Writer and career leftist feminist activist Gloria Steinem died Wednesday. She was 92.

Somehow one of the lines of my post was deleted. I meant to write “The working class is no longer the darling of the left - because the white working class has been declared as the bigoted oppressors of racial ‘minorities’ by the today’s identity-politics focused progressives”.

Ah, I understand now. That is empirically true-that the white working class has been declared the bigoted oppressors.
It is also true that Leftism is cannibalistic in nature, and your comment points out that reality.
It is also true that the Left constantly has to have people to pit against each other, and that eventually they run out of those, and end up eating themselves to continue.
While Bernie Sanders and other octo and nonogenerian lefties still rail against "the billionaires", that's not really what animates most of the progressive left today. Racial, ethnic, and sexual grievances are much more central to their worldview. Same form, different content.
They made the shift many years ago away from a “class” Marxism to a “cultural/sexual” Marxism.
They realized that they could not accomplish a classic “class” Marxist revolution in the United States because our middle class was too broad and too wealthy. Additionally, we are the most class-free country in the world.
There is almost no restaurant where the CEO of a company might go for dinner, where he or she might see their secretary or one of their workers eating there as well.
So, back in the Sixties to 90’s they began to shift to a “cultural” Marxism to create new classes where their filthy dynamic might still work to pit groups against each other.
Instead of rich against poor, it became men against women, blacks against whites, straights against gays, etc.
They still hope to win in this fashion.
