Well, she’s not wrong, really. Any man who is pro-life is comfortably safe from ever getting pregnant. It’s rather like the women who used to hand out white feathers to men who didn’t want to go to war: easy for them to judge, they personally were in no danger of being conscripted.
Men are safe from getting pregnant.
Men aren’t safe from the consequences of an unwanted pregnancy.
Any man dumb to think otherwise really ought to keep it zipped.
>Well, she’s not wrong, really. Any man who is pro-life is comfortably safe from ever getting pregnant.
The phrasing of casting “safe from” pregnancy is to characterize it as being a disease. Similarly I have yet to see the couple that gets pregnant without exactly one voluntary physical act or a lot of artificial procedure.
Likewise there are things males are not “safe from” in pregnancy inclusive of having children they desire aborted against their will in current law, and post-partum actions whether legal or, as in the current case, attempts to justify murder of already-born children.
For these reasons and others of the same vein that may occur, “safe from” is not a good choice of phrase here. I get your point but “safe from” is treating a human life as if it were a wart.
You are correct. The author, Nancy Flanders, completely missed the point Anna Faris was making, which I don’t agree with. She was referring to the fact that as a male, he would never have to make a “choice”. The part missing from her “analysis”, is that the child is every bit the father’s as the mother’s. That’s not a “luxury”.
“Well, she’s not wrong, really. Any man who is pro-life is comfortably safe from ever getting pregnant”
No. Every man whose child has been aborted experiences that abortion. He can deny it but that’s doesn’t erase it.
The man may be safe from being pregnant but if the woman decides to keep the baby then he will be liable for paternity support. Which he should be!
Lord have mercy! Lady, is the creation of a child really that transactional to you? There are two sets of chromosomes involved; despite your low opinion of them, most men acknowledge, accept, and cherish that responsibility. I’m sorry you have, apparently, met none of them. Bless you.
