Most of them are infra red, which is invisible to us, but not all critters. Even people can see the leds in the dark.
I’ve had deer walk up and stick their nose directly on the camera, which indicates they have no trouble seeing it at all.
An elusive creature may not be disposed to walk directly into a “street light” illuminated area.
