The reflection is from the standpoint of the observer, and that little open slice of mirror is where the image is reaching him. She can look at the same slice of mirror and see the observer, but we are not shown that viewpoint.
If a webcam were put under the shirt, and the fabric completely covered the mirror, there would be no image of the girl, just the camera and the back of the fabric.
