PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WJAR) — The jury deliberating in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in Plymouth Superior Court had a question Friday, but it was not immediately clear what they asked.

Court came back into session a little after 10 a.m., and the question was apparently discussed and answered at sidebar.
The judge made no mention of it, and court went back into recess as deliberations continue.
Clancy of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is on trial in the strangulation deaths of her three young children -- Cora, Dawson and Callan -- in 2023.
The central question is whether the jury believes she knew what she was doing on the night of the killings.
Her defense says her actions were affected by postpartum psychosis.
The jury can decide if Clancy is not guilty, not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, guilty of first-degree murder, guilty of second-degree murder or guilty of manslaughter.
A not guilty by reason of insanity verdict would see her remain under psychiatric care. Any of the three criminal convictions would result in prison.
Nine women and three men are deciding the case. They were randomly chosen from the 18 jurors seated for the trial.

If the accused was,in fact,experiencing such an imbalance (impossible for anyone to know for sure) I'd say that she was not morally culpable for what she did. If she wasn't: string her up!
There are 9 women on the jury. She’s walks and is celebrated as a feminist icon and goes on the view.
Not sure about that. As a mother who actually had post partum I cannot imagine killing my children. She be found guilty.

This has nothing to do with the chick on trial but I have also learned a lot about the brain as I care for son with brain cancer. I learned first hand what happens to someone who has a Vitamin B12 deficiency. It is just like someone with dementia.The brain is a very complex chunk of meat.
I have no opinion on the trial as I haven’t paid attention to it.

What a media circus. They are going to sell a lot of beer and pantyhose. My question would be, “How many others are under care for this mental problem after killing family members?”
If you want to see something evil, straight out of demon dens, look at the hoards of pink shirted demons outside the court. It’s right out of a Stephen King Novel. But it’s not fiction, anymore.
Suffice it to say, at least in my opinion, that anyone who kills their kids, let alone one by one, is, in fact, sick or insane. I do believe that the Judge offered a way out for the “weak at heart” who just cannot bring themselves to convict someone, whether crazy or not, with a maximum penalty. I am guessing it will be either 2nd degree or manslaughter. The bigger question is why the press and non-liberals not focusing one bit on the kids.... they’re more interested in the drama of the crazed or not debate.

So what if it was?
Psychopathy is not the primary cause of murder, but people without empathy (psycho/sociopaths) are farrrr more likely to commit a violent crime than those with it.
While I would suggest that the effect of deterrence is not
relevant to psychopathy than it is with the general population, does that still mean we shouldn’t punish and incarcerate dangerous people for their violent acts?

The ONLY thing I saw that raised an eyebrow is that one of her psychologists had been working for the Telehealth company for a few months. And she was presenting herself as an expert on PostPartum Depresssion. It was scary that mental health care has come to that.
Along with the circus last year in Canton (Karen Read) MA certainly has shown we are full of whacky folks.

The longer period of deliberation indicates a problem with that.
I agree with you that the defendant will escape a "guilty" verdict. She will get a "not guilty by reason of insanity" verdict, or possibly a hung jury and a retrial.
There should be no women on the jury. We have a poisoned culture where no female defendant can ever be found guilty of anything due to feminist influence on jury pools.

Even if a man was convicted for killing his children and he went to jail, fellow prisoners would kill him. There would be some form of 'accountability'.
I think Howie Carr made a fool of himself on that one. He was sexually infatuated with Karen Read. I am certain she killed him by backing into him with her car. Whether it was deliberate or accidental is not clear, but I lean to deliberate. Hell hath no fury. He was breaking up with her, she did not like being dumped.

I think you are correct. Nor would women support a man who killed his own children. Human nature is strange. Hence the people rallying around Karen Read. She did it. The only issue is the degree of guilt, manslaughter or murder.
I think a lifetime in an insane asylum is about right.
A friends mother, a British war bride, lost it in the early 60s after her fifth boy was born. She drowned him in the tub. She was overwhelmed. I knew her some ten years after and she was out of it most of the time. Drugs maybe or just the fact that it messed her up so bad. Sad really.
