Trump Posts Bizarre Ranking of America’s Greatest Presidents
Daily Beast ^ | 08/28/2026 | Cameron Adams

Donald Trump has unleashed his own bizarre personal ranking of former American presidents.

Unsurprisingly, Trump, 80, put himself at the top of the list as “The Greatest” of all time in his Thursday Truth Social post.

A generous Trump also declared former Presidents Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson to be “Great”, but not on his elite level.

What an interesting phrase to be found on a conservative site, looking for funding through donations.

Can you show me where this site is looking for funding through donations? I don't mean a red status bar at the top of the Forum page. If anything, that is an enbarrassment to Free Republic chronicling it's failure to thrive financially.

Jim Robinson used to post almost daily In Breaking News an appeal for donations. If you look way way down in the Breaking News section here you might see Chris making such a plea. From over a month ago.

What does that tell you?

That is very much a Boomer list c. 1960. I mean what someone would have heard in school in the Sixties. Wilson and Polk are a lot more controversial now. Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, and maybe Pierce are rated failures — Buchanan was even back then. Grant is no longer seen as a failure. Not on Trump’s list are the actual presidents of the Sixties: DDE, JFK, LBJ, RMN. Ford, the Bushes, and Clinton also not on his list.

Thank you. I like the term myself. It refers to those who think every emission that comes from Donald Trump (via whatever part of his body it comes from), is pristine, brilliant, and not to be questioned.

As for this being a conservative site... well I hope it still is. My definition of a conservative is someone who believes in smaller government, lower taxes, and more individual freedom.

I have seen zero indication that PDJT is in favor of a smaller government. We are running a two TRILLION dollar annual deficit, and he’s doing nothing to address it. Instead, he’s renaming lakes to piss of Canada.

U.S. Grant was not a failure by any reasonable measure.

I tell me lots, as I suspect it does you.

Last quarter there were appeals. As of almost two months into this next quarter, the tally seems to be at 26%, the remainder and appeals for the remainder being in a next, single month.

You're an "old timer" compared to my enrollment, and I to some who enrolled only in the last months. My About is different than your About, but they tell something of us. So many voices seem darn near anonymous and neither location nor any statement of views are available.

I'd venture the guess that FR wither slowly. What think you?

I think FR will be profitable for quite some time. A drop in donations will cause management to spring into action. Even if they can’t manage it they can sell it to some company that will put ads.

Trump Fart Sniffers?

This official portrait has always amused my inner junior high school boy as Trump makes it easy for fart sniffing as he lifts a cheek up to let one out.

From your post 80....

One revisits the FR page to read, "When and if our participants decide we are no longer needed or viable, we will close down shop and go away."

I'm thinking it's not the participants that will decide. It's Chris and John.

---- "My definition of a conservative is someone who believes in smaller government, lower taxes, and more individual freedom."

My tagline....

Nonetheless, the Trump-Vance administration is all we've got, and for the next two+ years. That other alternative, so advanced by Republican Liz Cheney a couple of years ago and named Harris-Walz, sucked.

So you're in the same boat we're in. I hope we can keep it from capsizing, from having some drill holes in its hull, or scuttling it. The current administration is the reality. Those willing to see it sunk on any basis -- even ideological purity -- are not advancing "smaller government, lower taxes, and more individual freedom" even when they say they do. So does it seem to me.

No disagreement whatsoever.

Compared to the old timers, some who had the privilege of meeting Jim Robinson, I am uninformed by much of those experiences. Lucky you, if you were.

I quoted the Robinsons' -- note the plural -- front page words. Probably written long ago.

My experience, in part, has been with some Freepers who have personally/privately told me they are no longer supporting much of the invective and "liberal" messaging that has gone on of late.

Right. IMO LBJ was the worst president ever.

Well, I nominate Jimmy Carter as the worst:

He allowed/encouraged Khomeini (sp) to take over Iran,

He sold the Panama Canal for $1.

He claimed to be a Nuclear Engineer, but he destroyed the Nuclear Industry.

... the absolute worst.

PS. I voted for the SOB

Great, if correct. Then they won't need a donation from us, I'll send larger donations to a local mission we support.

PS The Jankó keyboard won't catch on anytime soon for most, given it's been around since the 1880s.

He allowed/encouraged Khomeini (sp) to take over Iran...

Carter backed the Shah, urged him (including privately) to restore order, sent Gen. Robert Huyser to try to keep the military cohesive and support a transitional government, contemplated or authorized steps toward a military option/coup to block Khomeini, and after the revolution issued a finding directing CIA efforts toward a more pro-Western alternative. The Shah was already weak—cancer-stricken, indecisive about large-scale repression, facing broad-based opposition rooted in SAVAK repression, inequality, cultural alienation from rapid Westernization, and historical grievances over foreign interference. Many historians conclude the Shah primarily “lost Iran”; Carter’s errors were real but secondary to deeper forces.

Let's not forget the French, who harbored Ruhollah Khomeini for four months after Iraq kicked him out. And before that, Iraq harbored him for thirteen years before they deported him to.... France. And before that some jackass in Turkey harbored him for a year earlier.
