“The Donna Reed Show” alum Shelley Fabares has died. She was 82.

The actress’s family confirmed she died while surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, People reported.

“To her family and friends, Shelley was a source of love, strength, laughter, and comfort,” they wrote in a statement, describing her as a “devoted wife” and “loyal friend whose warmth, generosity, humor, and grace made an enduring difference in the lives of everyone who knew her.”

The statement continued, “She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.”

“For millions, Shelley was a beloved actress whose work became part of the fabric of American television and film,” her family continued, highlighting her long-standing career as Mary Stone in “The Donna Reed Show” from 1958 to 1965.

Additionally, she released her chart-topping hit “Johnny Angel” in 1962.

I always thought that show was great casting. Shelley Fabares really looked like she could be Donna Reed’s daughter, and the father and son looked alike, too.

He is more leftist than Alan Alda.

One day Alda was giving an interview to TV Guide magazine while on the set of MASH when Farrell happened to stroll by. Alda called out to him, “Hey! I hear you’re running for the Politburo!”

Shelley’s first husband was record producer Lou Adler. They separated in 1966 after only 2 years of marriage, but didnt get divorced until 1980.

Just before the divorce, Lou got engaged to his girlfriend when it suddenly dawned on him, “Holy cow! I’m still married to Shelley!”

How does anyone forget theyre married to Shelley Fabares?

I remember that episode of “The Twilight Zone”.....it was called “Black Leather Jackets” and was written by Earl Hammer of “The Waltons” fame.

Three motorcycle guys in black leather jackets rent the house next door to Shelley Fabares...or at least the character she played. Denver Pyle played her father.

The motorcycle guys were actually alien invaders from another planet who, along with thousands of others, were plotting to put bacteria in the Earth’s reservoirs and kill everyone in order to colonize Earth.

One of the aliens fell for the Shelley Fabares character.

Shelley’s first husband was record producer Lou Adler.

Lou Adler produced many top artists including The Mamas/Papas.
After hearing them audition with just 1 acoustic guitar, he signed them and 2 days later they were in the recording studio.

Lou Adler suggested the title of their first album - "If You Can believe Your Eyes & Ears" from his first impression of seeing & hearing them.

One of my first crushes, and that was probably true for millions of American boys.

She was on the “Annette” miniseries on the Mickey Mouse Club. She was in three Elvis movies. She was fantastic on the Donna Reed Show and everything else.

“I think it’s a safe guess to say that because of the pink highlights in her hair that she was liberal.”

She had a small part playing herself in a biographical movie about Annette in the mid-’90s, long before the current pink, purple, and blue hair fad. Her hair was beyond funky in the movie. I think that’s just how she was — a little “out there”.

A week or two ago I saw the Donna Reed episode where she sang that song.
Highly electronically modified voice just like the Brady boy as Johnny Bravo.

I had the 45 of the song “Johnny Angel”. But I fell in love with the reverse side song, “Where’s it gonna get me?”. Wore the record out.

She was in a B movie The Devil’s 8, a ripoff of The Dirty Dozen. I always liked that movie.

Barbara Eden posted the following on Facebook:
Oh goodness, what can I say about Shelley Fabares.

Dear sweet Shelley. I learned just now of her passing on Saturday. While I'm saddened by the news, I am filled with happy memories of filming "Ride the Wild Surf" with her, Susan Hart and all the boys!

Shelley truly was a sweet, good girl. In the acting world you never know what type of people your fellow castmates may be when you start a project. It's always a treat when you find yourself among good, happy people. Us girls all shared a little bungalow on Oahu together and it was more fun than work! The whole group of us were having a ball!

My thoughts and condolences to Shelley's husband Mike Farrell and their loved ones. Shelley was a darling woman, a lovely actress and a wonderful singer. -Barbara Eden
