L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies shot a pit bull that was reportedly attacking them while they were attempting to apprehend a suspect Thursday in Sunland, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the Sunland Recreation Center near Sherman Grove Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
Authorities did not disclose what the suspect was wanted for, but said the person was taken into custody and that the dog belonged to him.
During the attack, officials said less-lethal force was used multiple times on the animal, including the use of a Taser, though weapons had little effect on the dog, prompting an officer to fire on the pit bull.
At least one deputy was injured during the dog attack.

Additional video obtained by KTLA showed deputies transferring the pit bull, wrapped in a blanket, to several women. The women then placed the dog into a white sedan that quickly left the recreation center parking lot for an emergency veterinary clinic.
The animal’s condition was not immediately available.

We have a family member who has had several pits over the years. The one she had the longest got in a fight and when her owner tried to separate the dogs, the pit bit caused the family member to have to be in the hospital two weeks and causing serious and permanent injuries. The dog was put down. The other pit she had almost killed two neighbors dogs so he had to be put down. This family member now has a five pound chaweenie.
This is news?
No, sir. It is posted in chat.
Ooh nice catch.
Pits are the scourge of Appalachia. They are everywhere.
The Taser had little effect on the dog.
I’ve always presumed that most animals have a far higher pain threshold than most humans. There are times when Tasers won’t even have much effect on people when those people are in a state of rage or intoxication. More than likely, the dog was unleashed. Sometimes, lethal measures are the only way to stop such a threat from advancing.
That’s not exactly what I meant.. What I meant was, why did ktla think this was news. No reflection on you posting it. Sorry.
They could shoot all the Pits in the states and it wouldn’t bother me. Dang stupid breed (and I worked as youth as a vet assistant for years).
All PIT BULLS should be exterminated.
Almost all canines that end up in shelters are 75% or more Pit Bull.
Then the shelter will SELL the pups/dogs to some fool who doesn’t have any idea how dangerous they are.
Then the shelter will purposely LIE on the registration because they know many insurance companies will NOT cover you IF you have a PIT BULL.
They will make out the registration as a Labrador Retriever Mix.
We never started seeing Peet Bools in this country until we started seeing illegal aliens with leaf blowers. Seems to have gone hand in hand. These guys are f’n nuts. There’s one who comes to do lawns on our street in Florida wearing several layers of clothing, a helmet of sorts, boots up to his knees, ear protection, and a leaf blower on his back. In 95 degree heat and 80 percent humidity and full sun. I’m not making this up. I don’t know how the hell he doesn’t end up in the back of an ambulance from heat stroke.
My roommate had to shoot a bad guy’s bad doggie one time in DC. It really messed with his head.
Too bad they aren’t as good at shooting scum as the are at shooting dogs.
California PD on a chase of a robbery suspect allowed the perpetrators to stop and fill his tank with gas during the chase. Is everything fake?
I was at a job once in a ghetto house in Detroit. The welfare rats had a drug dealer son who had an old scarred up pit bull. Drug dealer was gone all day and the pit bull walked off the balcony, through the house full of junior welfare rats and into the backyard wherein it proceeded to kill a stray dog, then it went back upstairs and welt to sleep.
The welfare rat asked us to kill the pit bull. I told her that I saw a .22 rifle up in her drug dealer son’s room. We dispatched the dog and threw it in the dumpster in the alley.
I slept just fine that night and every night since.
Some things just need killing.
