When you see one cockroach in your kitchen, there are a few hundred you don't see.

When you walk into the kitchen at night and turn on the lights and see a hundred of them scatter, it's time to get out the Raid or Baygon and kill the little b@stards.

But when big cockroaches come out in force in the full daylight, and tell you they're taking over your kitchen, and they're going to kill you....

Well, that's where we are.

Speaking of Baygon, I lived in a Philly row-house for a few years in the 70's, and one hot summer the place was crawling with cockroaches. I bought two gallons of Baygon liquid and a hand-pump sprayer, closed all the doors and windows, stripped down to my shorts (it was hot as hell, no A/C), and started spraying. Stupidly, no mask.

In 20 minutes the air was a mist, I was dripping sweat and Baygon, and realized my eyesight was getting weird and I started having tremors and twitching. I put down the sprayer, took a quick shower, went outside, and after an hour I was starting to recover.

It took 3-4 days before my nervous system settled back to more or less normal.

It only took 2 days for the f'n cockroaches to start reappearing. Those b@stards are hardy.

When I was in college my roommate and I lived in a newly constructed duplex off campus in Tampa,FL The builder and his large family lived in the unit adjacent to ours (even though these were 1 bedroom units!). They cooked everything in grease, which spattered on the drywalls. About a week after he had completed his work on the small development and returned to North Carolina, there came an event which we remember, after 60+ years, known as "The night of the roach invasion"!

In the middle of the night, we were awakened with roaches crawling on our beds and throughout our duplex! Needless to say, we turned on all the lights and quickly depleted our one can of Raid! From tht point forward we were smashing roaches with shoes until dawn! The next day, after some sleep, we expended our limited funds on more bug spray...which, after a couple of days, ended our roach invasion from next door!

This was 62 years ago and still is a topic of conversation to this day!
