Imagine taking a day off from work in a future without capitalism.
It might not feel as badly needed as it does now. You enjoy your work; it’s interesting to you, and you’re well trained for it. You work as much as you are able and no more than needed, and you would control your own labor and see it going to good use. It’s not just a job to pay the bills.
These are all familiar, everyday activities. A socialist day off could be like any good day now. But what if you were free to spend your time how you like without worrying about cost or dreading going back to work? What if you didn’t have to think about paying rent or loans at the end of the month, or saving for college, or affording groceries? You have no debt. You don’t need health insurance. You don’t pay a mortgage or have a landlord, because comfortable housing is a human right. Your retirement is publicly funded. Food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation aren’t for-profit businesses; they are common goods and utilities.
OK, enough about bills. What do you do on your day off? Maybe in the morning, you walk your kids to school, run errands, or go to a doctor’s appointment. In the afternoon, you might play a sport, practice a new skill, read, plan a trip. In the evening, you could meet up with friends or family and eat together, maybe go to the movies or down to the park.

” socialism breeds an ennui and apathy that is terrible for a society.”
Apparently, it’s not just full-on socialism or communism that creates this. After hearing comments from tourists here for the World Cup from countries not officially socialist, one word they often used to describe America was “freedom”.
They were from UK, Germany, Italy. Even in UK, you have to get a “TV License” from the government if you want to watch certain things. A “TV LICENSE”!!! I think the person was at Walmart and couldn’t believe that you could just buy a TV and take it home. I thought he was being silly, but I asked AI, ad it’s true.
They were amazed that there are American flags flying everywhere, when in their countries they only fly their countries’ flags for certain limited events. I asked AI, and it’s true.
We think there’s government overreach in America — and there definitely is — but compared to everywhere else we’ve got it pretty good.
They think they will somehow magically be provided for.
These are the people who are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that they didn’t get their share of the pie because you got a larger share. The concept of creating more pie is lost on the envious.
“Jail the leadership of DSA”
—————
My grandfather, was lucky enough to be able to run away from Russia, just after the revolution ended, but whose entire family was left there the exception of one of his brothers, once had the opportunity to see a speech by Alexander Kerensky, who was an interim leader of the Russian government in between the Zare and the communists. He had the opportunity to really correct down on the communists, but failed to do so, because he thought that they could be reasoned with and dealt with. He was sorely mistaken, and we all know the results. After that speech, my grandfather, confronted him, and let him know about all the misery that he was responsible for because he failed to stop those monsters.
I repeat, shoot them. It’s the only way to preserve our society in the long run. These people never give up, and they’re always able to fool just enough people to get the votes. They need to get into power. Once that happens, it’s too late and millions die. Shoot them.
It is parody, isn't it?
Most people would instantly stop working. Once again, Theater Kids show how little they understand human nature.
The DSA platform
You do get a day of in labor camps.
Under DSA, you can spend your day off standing in line at the government owned/run grocery store that is always out of stock.
“Under the DSA, I will have the time to focus on my art and music”
Under the DSA “Welcome to the salt mine, comrade”
You work at a government job...PICKING UP DOG POO FOR YOUR GOVENMENT HANDLER
You live in government housing...WITH 10 OTHERS IN A HOVEL
You eat government food...OF CHEESE WITH NAN
And you will take a day off...WHEN YOU’RE DEAD
When the government tells you! YOU SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH
Probably for a day of free socialist labor on May Day!!!
Why would you need retirement if everything is already paid for? These people are retarded and delusional.
Excellent response.
And for those DSA diehards who would say that Elon Musk’s robots will be there to do all of the work, we might want to tell those DSA diehards that there will be no Elon Musks in the future because there is no incentive to create the robots.
And if we get to the point where robots create new robots, then there will be no need for humans.

The Soviet Union had “anti-parasite” laws. People who did not work were considered parasites. They were severely punished. Lots of them ended up in the gulags.
The Soviets did not believe in the Bible, but they enforced: If you don’t work, you don’t eat!
Maybe I am confused, but it seems like that's how things work now. I work as much as I am able, but no more than needed, as my employer would fire me (sorry, lay me off) if my work wasn't needed. And I control my labor, since I work because I choose to (and because I need to pay bills), and it goes to good use (because it satisfies my employer's need for the work to be done while also satisfying my own previously mentioned need to pay my bills).
Communists are absolutely retarded.
You could use your day off to go stand in line hoping to buy food in a supermarket with empty shelves.
You enjoy your work; it’s interesting to you, and you’re well trained for it. You work as much as you are able and no more than needed, and you would control your own labor and see it going to good use. It’s not just a job to pay the bills.

This is all utopia.
In practices, almost everybody works, to pay the bills.
Every time they tried to implement this, people just took off most of the time and did almost nothing.
It sounds great, but it is just against human nature!

Well, I see a problem here.
What if the doctor decided to take his day off the soma day?
What about the people moving the lawns in parks, cleaning restrooms, making the food?
They also need a day off, maybe doing some art instead cleaning restrooms?
Imagine taking a day off work in a future under Socialism.
You have a point. Our republic is in trouble. Drastic times demand drastic measures. Socialism/Communism is a cancer that must be destroyed.
Yes, just like everybody else in the concept.
Under communist workers paradise, no one can take a day off, unless every one gets a day off at the same time. Until all work is finished, no one can take a day off, and work is never finished.
There’s your dream vacation - you can dream about it at night, if you have the strength left to dream.
