Never Underestimate The Impact of Free Republic
Free Republic | Bill Russell

Posted on 08/07/2026 2:50:49 AM PDT by Bill Russell

Yesterday, the President signed new Executive Orders expanding the definition of who is excluded from Birthright Citizenship. While there is an absolute likelihood that all those really smart attorneys and other people in the Executive branch came up with the updated policies independent of anything I floated here, in the blogosphere, and through indirect channels, I will take it as a win. Even if independently arrived at by others, the ideas floated here definitely appear to have been ground into the sausage making process of the new policies.

Never underestimate the impact of Free Republic on national debates! -- Back in 2008, when I was a completely unknown congressional candidate running against one of the most corrupt and powerful congressmen in US history and did not even know what FreeRepublic was, it was a Freeper (Hope you are still out there and in good health, Rusty!) who elevated my campaign on this forum and got the attention of Michelle Malkin and other members of the national press, enabling my campaign to give John Murtha a run for his money. With that history in mind, here are the links to the original article on July 19, 2026, and the new Birthright Citizenship Executive Orders:

Yeah, Drudge Report back then was solidly conservative. That’s where I found FreeRepublic’s link.

I registered under a different name around 2001-2002, but for some reason I lost access. So I lurked until about 5 years ago, and re-registered, and I’m still here. I absolutely love it here.

Idiot

From your link:

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence assessed in February 2024 that "Iranian leaders did not orchestrate nor had foreknowledge of" the October 7 attack.

🤔

It’s a qualty site. Be encouraged. But be diligent to monitor content for the foul language and racism that are seen on X.

Hamas’ & Hezbollah’s writ is to kill Jews. Iran supplies to best it can arms and money. Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s job is to strike where they think best. Iran does not need to give detailed orders or any orders at all. Foolish to think its hierarchical!

my favorite from the 90’s was alamo girl.

I recall incessantly posting that the republicans needed to watch the ballot casting in florida in 2000. I likely was not the. only one.

low and behold republican senators governors and the like showed up at the polls as poll watchers.

We won!.

It's true. FR is read far more widely than many would expect and has a strong influence.

For one thing, those posting here are the smartest, best informed, and most honest people I have found anywhere on the internet.

I have seen quotations from FR in the U.S. national news. Some were acknowledged, some not.

Excellent point, Nev.

“ There was a group in the 1990s that were malcontents, renegades, and off the mainstream plantation of conservatism as articulated by the party.
Those were the people that were the early participants in the website Free Republic.”

Otherwise known as patriotic Americans. We just articulated what a majority of American’s thought and wanted, similar to what Rush Limbaugh tapped into.

Congratulations to all Freepers! You rock!

Let's see if you remember this.

The key to the birthright citizenship case in law is the 19th Century legal definition of the word "subject."

"malcontents, renegades, and off the mainstream plantation of conservatism as articulated by the party": i.e. honest, intelligent people who think for themselves.

What does Hamas’s assault against Israel on 10/07/2023 (which at least one Freeper on this website thinks Israel intentionally let happen so they could have a greater casus belli, so take that for what it’s worth) have to do with our current conflict with Iran? That’s a complete non sequitur.

Hamas is one of Iran’s proxies. One of the major purposes of the October 7 attack was to derail the Abraham accords. It failed.

There was a group back in the 1990s — malcontents, renegades, off the conservative plantation,
early participants in the website Free Republic, known as Freepers. - Rush Limbaugh, July 3, 2013

FReepers were united by a shared anathema to the Clintons in the Lewinsky era.

BTW while Buckhead hasn’t participated here in a long time, he was a defense attorney for some of the other people caught up in Fulton County GA DA Fani Willis’ political prosecution of Trump.

Amazing.

Thanks for that update. God bless Buckhead....wherever he is.

Yes, as I’ve said to my wife, after reading the mainstream newsmedia, I go to FR comments to find out what’s really going on.
