I am quite certain that was the plan all along. Russia has more territory and natural resources than any other country on Earth. They don’t need more territory. They just didn’t want invasion forces staged on their border and Russian speaking Ukrainians slaughtered. Europe, on the other hand, has greenied itself into financial collapse. They desperately need Russia’s stuff, and will do whatever it takes to get it.

Well stated - Europe SALIVATES over the land and resources that Russia has...and has ALWAYS salivated over it.
