Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) pressed for his fellow Ohio Republican and former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, to resign in the wake of abuse allegations involving Moreno’s daughter and granddaughter, adding that he thinks the GOP representative needs “serious psychological help.”
“If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them. He should not serve in the House of Representatives,” Moreno said in a post on the social platform X on Sunday morning.
“I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does,” he added.
On Friday, Moreno sidestepped a question on whether Miller should stay on the ballot after the lawmaker was alleged to have abused his ex-wife Emily Moreno, the senator’s daughter. When asked by NOTUS if Miller should go forward with his reelection bid, Moreno gave a short reply and declined to elaborate.
“I don’t know,” he said, per NOTUS.
Political pressure has increased on Miller after Emily Moreno alleged in court filings that her ex-husband tossed hot water on her, held a gun to her head and broke their daughter’s collarbone. Miller has denied the claims and sued Emily Moreno for defamation.
“Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private but Max Miller’s increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible,” Moreno said in his Sunday X post.
“As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter.”
Miller shot back at Moreno in his own post on X, saying “if my daughter said the same thing to me, I personally wouldn’t wait two years before holding him accountable.”
“You know this isn’t true and the only reason you are speaking out now is to hide from your own media circus. This is all political,” he added.
In a livestream Sunday, Miller also stated that he’d “been portrayed as an abusive husband, an abusive father and a violent man.”
“Those allegations have damaged my reputation, caused enormous pain to my family and most importantly, it’s affected our daughter,” Miller added.

Republicans have until 4PM on Wednesday to replace Miller on the ballot.
Wow what a mess. Apparently the ‘rats aren’t the only ones with psycho issues.

There aren’t. These days.
This is a seat we should hold. He needs to step down - certainly if the allegations are true, but even if they are not, he should focus on clearing his name, not to mention he could save this seat.
Are there even any viable R candidates, to fill this spot, in OH by the deadline?
Vivek is a looney toon, too. (I know, he’s running for Gov)
What about Usha?
:-)
Rep Max Miller
Sen. Moreno should consider former St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Dan Cox:
Allegations? Why should I believe allegations?
No one is asking you to do so.
he LOOKS like a dirtball. How do these people get so far in politics?
“You can fool some of the people some of the time.....”
Overdue for naptime?
but democrats all of the time.
I don’t know the truth in this matter, if Moreno’s daughter is blameless or not, but I do know some guys who were decent in their marriage, doing more than their share while the woman took advantage of the guys working multiple jobs, providing, doing much of housework etc, and the women made up lies to get sole custody to cut the guy out of their childrens lives. Some men even had visitation cut off for years only to later have it revealed the woman was the liar and nut case.
Hah.......yup
I know nothing about the facts of the allegations but have to agree. If innocent, he can salvage his political career by resigning so the seat can be saved. If he continues to run and loses the seat then, regardless of innocence, his political career will be toast.
“This is a seat we should hold”
R+6 district. Democrats were pursuing it hard even before allegations of Miller’s scumbaggery surfaced. Allegations are all that’s needed, when the target is a Republican. Proof is optional.
And of course, unlike when one of their own kind is the scumbag, the Democrat media will be jumping all over Miller with both feet from now until he is out of office.
That time either comes this week, or in November. He’s DOA either way. And so is that seat if the GOP naively waits until November to see how things shake out.
Same thing is going to happen to Chuck Edwards (R) in NC-11.
People who act like Republicans are assured of keeping the House because “muh redistricting” are going to be surprised when they see how that temporary (and smaller than they think) advantage is bled away by all the tossup seats — and ones like Miller’s which should NOT be tossups — that turn to ashes in November unless the political environment improves significantly in the next 3 months.
There’s no need for the GOP to shoot itself in the foot even further by forfeiting seats like OH-7 which wouldn’t be in serious jeopardy otherwise.
