Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) made some of his first public comments this week about the ongoing scandal rocking the Republican Party in his state: the domestic violence allegations against Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) brought by his ex-wife, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH).
Miller is in a tough reelection fight as Democrats in the state are calling for his resignation following allegations made in divorce documents from Emily Moreno, who accused Miller of physical and emotional abuse.
Emily Moreno has accused Miller of having “scalded her chest and stomach by throwing hot water from a skillet at her body; held a gun to her head; pushed her against a wall and hit her head; and fractured their daughter’s collarbone and bruised her shoulder,” according to a recent New York Times report.
Miller has vehemently denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit against his ex-wife.
DeWine spoke to local Columbus ABC affiliate reporter Morgan Trau on Wednesday and told her that “the accusations are certainly very serious and certainly troubling.”
The currently term-limited DeWine added of Miller, “My relationship with him, our professional relationship, has been very good. He has worked with us on different things. We’ve talked back and forth about different issues.”
“These accusations are worrying to you if they are correct, but because you have a beneficial relationship with him, you’re focusing on that?” Trau pressed the governor.
“No, that was an aside. You didn’t ask the question; I volunteered it because I think it’s relevant to what kind of job he’s doing as a congressman. But no, these are troubling accusations,” DeWine replied, adding that “people of the district are having to weigh the facts. They are the ultimate people who decide; They’re the ones who decide who they want to represent.”
Sen. Bernie Moreno’s office has yet to release a statement on the scandal, and the senator has not spoken publicly about Rep. Miller or his reelection bid.
Miller attacked the Ohio senator in a social media post in May, however, dragging their family fight very much out into the public, writing, “It is unfortunate that @berniemoreno continues to fund and enable his daughter’s malicious campaign to ruin my life despite his knowledge of her mental health issues. Bernie, this must be distracting from your job. These antics harm your own grandchild. Anytime you want to put a stop to this, you can. ”
Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who dated Miller in 2019 and 2020 while they both worked for Trump, also accused Miller of domestic abuse, resulting in various lawsuits between the pair.

No man should be judged by what his ex-wife says about him.
Max sounds like an unstable nutburger who needs to resign.
Have you met his wife?
Were there police or medical exam reports to support the ex-wife’s charges?
“scalded her chest and stomach by throwing hot water from a skillet at her body; held a gun to her head; pushed her against a wall and hit her head; and fractured their daughter’s collarbone and bruised her shoulder,”
It’s how they celebrate holidays in Cleveland.
Can’t agree. I know several women who were married to terrible men (abusive and pigs). Same goes for men marrying a bad woman (most of the time based on their looks and performance in certain areas).
The real thing in question is their ability to choose a better person.
One woman might be lying. Two? That's a problem. And a child with a fractured collarbone??
Shoot, a feller could have a pretty good weekend in Cleveland with all that stuff.
Should be easy to confirm or refute. She obviously filed a police report and went to the hospital so there’s record of that, right?
Look at the very last sentence mentions former White House Sec. Stephanie Grisham, who dated Miller in 2019 and 2020, has also accused him of domestic abuse. Pushing her into a wall at his Washington apartment, and slapping her in the face after she accused him of infidelity.
I will forever dislike Ms Grisham, because of how she betrayed her former employer, First Lady Melania, in her book “I’ll Take Your Question, Now” from 2021, but in this instance, Stephanie had nothing to gain from making her accusation. Even if, somehow Republcans got this guy elected, it may just be a short matter of time before he is yet again involved with another “domestic abuse” situation.
This man has deep problems.
Just switch to the Democrap party. A sure winner.
Ohio is one screwed up state.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
has anyone checked miller for nazi tatoos on his chest
I hope the democrats will not judge him based on his worst day.
I don’t trust Stephanie Grisham to tell me what day it is, much less anything else.
“After leaving the White House, Grisham became a critic of Trump…On January 5, 2022, Grisham testified to the January 6 Committee.
…she told the committee that Trump held secret meetings in the White House residence in the weeks before the Capitol attack and that the Secret Service had received a presidential document reflecting Trump's intentions to march to the Capitol on January 6.
On August 20, 2024, Grisham spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, saying that Trump mocked his supporters in private, calling them "basement dwellers", and that he had "no morals and no fidelity to the truth.”
Just a little context re the credibility of Ms. Grisham.
Somewhat marginal district (R+6) especially in a year like 2026, located mainly in the Cleveland suburbs (the Cleveland ghetto is confined to CD-11).
Despite it’s marginality it was still supposed to be a fairly safe seat.... and now it’s a “fairly safe” bet to flip in November. “Guilty until proven innocent”, because Republican; that’s what Miller is facing. Not to mention that he really may BE guilty.
Ohio Republicans need to pull a “Platner” or a “Torricelli” here and replace their candidate due to unelectability, otherwise this House seat is a gift handed over to the D’s on a silver platter in November.
The Rat nominee is one of those “blue collar working class hero” types who is portrayed as a Regular Joe to get elected — but whose voting record in Congress will be as far to the left as his puppetmasters permit. He’ll need to steer occasionally towards the center in order to get re-elected in 2028.
I thought it was about Stephen Miller who works for Trump! That’s what I get for not reading more first.
This Stephanie Grisham?
Resigned from her position immediately following the attack on the U.S. Capitol, becoming the first senior West Wing staffer to step down.
Subsequently became a vocal critic of Donald Trump, wrote a tell-all memoir (I’ll Take Your Questions Now), and spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
