Why must Army have data centers ?? cmon.
getting out of control
Not really. AI for tactical planning and campaign scenarios and logistics, let alone an analysis point for all the intel the military has is a very real thing.
What gets me is the military should know, up front, that using insecure chips from a country actively opposed to America is... BAD and prone to sabotage if not its own intel gathering capabilities.
You just don’t get it.
We must not fall behind in the data center race!
Or any other race.
And if that means we must borrow and spend until the country is hopelessly bankrupt, so be it.
/s, of course
AI is being used in many military applications, more all the time.
The feds own millions of square miles of empty desert land that could be used for data centers powered by solar farms.
roughly 1.5 square mile solar farm will create 1 gigawatt of power. They can put those up in under a year, get around current opposition to data farms, and provide the feds with an interesting source of revenue.
The Army is far more advanced than most people realize, the army and its science labs are still the people who handle the medical science of Ebola and such, I believe it was army missiles that finally got us into space, and of course the atom bomb and its delivery, and so on.
