These companies leaving are a blow to New Jersey, but New Jersey is doing just fine. New York City is a bigger basket case than New Jersey and a lot of companies are fleeing across the border from the city to Northern Jersey. New Jersey Democrats are smart enough to not to full Communist so that NYC companies go to Pennsylvania or some other state instead of New Jersey. So while the NJ business climate isn’t great, New Jersey still is doing just fine and reaping the benefit of New York’s insanity.

If New Jersey had a favorable business climate with low taxes and a moderate to conservative state government, it would be a boomtown comparable to Dallas or Nashville, just with a cooler climate and antiquated infrastructure.

Joining them this week is candy and confectionery giant Mars Wrigley, which just announced that it is shifting its corporate headquarters from Newark to Chicago. Just moving from one dumpster fire to another one. Makes about as much sense as transferring from one sinking ship to another sinking ship.
