On my Republican early voting Ballot in Phoenix there is no State Senator printed. You have to do a write in candidate.

Why is this?

Because you’re in the capitol of Arizona and the name will be filled out for you.

Because no one filed to run for that office. In some states, someone can run a campaign to be added as the party nominee. In Maine you need to get double the number of required petition signatures to qualify.

Also in Maine you need to be a declared write in for the votes to count so a write in campaign must declare at least 45 days before election day.

I wrote in LOUGHRIGE, BILL District 8 which was the district on that spot. Said ‘Write in’ and he hasa 35-year career in local & federal Law Enforcement. Is Small business owner-operator. Community Volunteer & Leader. Tempe born, raised, and educated. His website says all this plus Constitutional liberties, freedoms & justice for ALL Americans.

He’s a Republican. Other than that I do not know anything about him. I’d hope he’s better than a Dem but how many will even know about this guy to write him in?

Search Assist (AI/Google) says “There may not be a Republican candidate for state senator on the early voting ballot in Phoenix, AZ, because the party may not have nominated a candidate for that position in the primary election. This can happen if no candidates file to run or if the party decides not to contest that particular seat”.

I read yesterday that he is not listed because he didn’t meet the ‘guidelines’. What the heck? Sounds like a good way to keep dems elected.
