Townhall ^

The number of federal jobs in the DMV area has fallen by just over 60,000, from nearly 376,000 at the start of President Trump’s second term to 312,500 in May.

A TEACHABLE moment(brought up before). We need 300,000 of those jobs(voters) gone. That's the # of votes Trump lost Virginia by. Turn the state red? Here's how:

1) Continue the downsizing.

2) Move entire departments to other states. The employees can take their families with them. They vote too.

3)This is the BIG ONE! Redraw the D.C. boundaries to their ORIGINAL lines, a 10 mile square thereby eliminating blue areas of Arlington and perhaps Alexandria. Just think. Take away their representation on legal grounds citing the constitution. We got the judges.

This would be the proper pushback to the DC statehood movement. Think of the drama that would come out of it. That’s where the ‘teachable’ element comes in. Most Americans don’t know what the original boundaries were and the reason for putting the capital in a district, not a state. Virginia took back it’s part of the district because of slavery-we got em’ on that one.

Ok so the citizens will lose their voting rights. Tell them to move.

Yet another reason to be glad Trump is in office. If we had a Jeb Bush in office, you could be damn sure that there would be no decline in federal workers despite how much he talked a good game about being conservative - just like his brother.

This is FAR BIGGER than just reduced headcount. These people are parasite c meddling busybodies that produce nothing but economy-strangling regs and roadblocks There a big GDP NEGATIVE multiplier effect for these people. I’d wager that every headcount reduction increases GDP by $1 billion.

Number of employees is a bad metric.

You need to know why they are there and what they are doing. For example, we need much more DOGE.

Should’ve announced it on the 4th - right before the fireworks.

That’s a good downpayment on what has to be done.

“I’d wager that every headcount reduction increases GDP by $1 billion.”

You’re not thinking about this the right way. It’s not the number of workers - it’s what they do.

Increase ICE by 500% and things will get better faster. More DOJ lawyers to root out DEI and enforce equal protection for YT will make more money than it costs.

“ It’s not the number of workers - it’s what they do.”

That is exactly what I wrote. Was I not clear?

Pay a $250k fed headcount and you get a billion dollar drag on the economy.

These parameters are already known.

Back to the boundaries. Imagine the curiosity the subject would bring out amongst the American subjects. Virginia was a slave state and they wanted to keep it that way. DC slaves had more freedom. Had that part of Virginia stayed part of the capital there might have been more pressure to deal with the issue sooner. I’m not a historian but most can agree our founding fathers had it right and most of their ideas are timeless. So what happens if all of us bored folk get to watch this fight on the tube while the rats are flailing in retreat? It would be like Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Who’s gonna light the fire? It would be awesome.

A good start. The recent Supreme Court ruling gave the President/The Executive Constitutional control of “Independent/unconstitutional” agencies.

Many Alphabet agencies should be eliminated and expect the states to do that job. Example. All states regulate Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and the expansionist powers of the ATF. Eliminate the ATF. Some ATF agents can go work for the state agencies. Some ATF agents can transfer to the FBI. Some can enter the private sector.

Many Alphabet agencies should have 90% of their jurisdiction cut. Example. FCC had a reason to exist a hundred years ago. Now, with internet, social media, as well as TV, radio, there is little reason for FCC to control our Freedom of Speech as they do.

Consultants are the next thing to cut beyond employees. Consulting firm Deloitte is the #1 Welfare FRAUD with both Federal and State money in most states, all the big states.

Reminds me of the "outrage" when Federal "workers" received an email requesting the employee to state a few of the things (work) they actually did last week.

The outrage told us everything we needed to know. "How dare you" demand I not just work, but do something worthwhile.

Good recollection. That was Musk’s DOGE team. Recall Musk fired 90% of the Twitter staff, go the organization very lean, and it produces a far better service than Twitter ever did.

I don’t care what they do with the boundaries now. Hell, give back Arlington. But not when we were growing up there. Not having that river separate NoVa from DC would have made NoVa horrible, most likely worse than the MD counties bordering DC to the north.
