A satellite image has confirmed the destruction of the Russian border patrol ship Izumrud, Ukraine's Navy announced on July 14.
The service published the imagery on its official Telegram channel, showing the vessel wrecked alongside a quay wall.
"We continue to reduce the potential of the Russian aggressor at sea," the Navy wrote.
Ukrainian forces struck the Izumrud with a Sargan-3000 uncrewed maritime system near Novorossiysk. The Navy reported that members of the Russian crew were killed and wounded, without disclosing precise figures.
Launched in 2014, the Izumrud was a second-rank border patrol ship operated by Russia's Federal Security Service. It measured roughly 62.5 meters, or 205 feet, and displaced between 630 and 750 metric tons. The vessel could reach speeds of up to 27 knots and carried a helicopter landing pad.
The ship also carried a longer history with Ukraine. It took part in the November 25, 2018, confrontation in the Kerch Strait, when Russian forces attacked and seized three Ukrainian Navy vessels and captured their crews.
The sinking lands amid a widening Ukrainian campaign against Russian vessels in the Black Sea.
Drones recently hit two Russian Project 12150 Mangust patrol boats during an overnight operation that also struck logistics, surveillance, and fuel infrastructure across occupied Crimea and southern Russia.
The pressure has pushed more than 50 tankers and cargo ships out of the Sea of Azov, after 105 vessels were struck there in eight days.

With Ukraine's enhanced naval drones now in use, that fleet has taken to hiding far from Crimea. The sinking of the Izumrud occurred at the Gelendzhik shipyards over 300 miles from Crimea and just 15 miles north of Putin's Palace, his billion-dollar plus getaway that whistleblower Sergei Kolesnikov in 2010 revealed to then-President Dmitry Medvedev in an open letter. You can find videos of the site of YouTube. Maybe it'll be targeted too.
That’ll buff right out.
