John Rogers spent years secretly funneling sensitive Federal Reserve information to Chinese spies, then looked investigators in the eye and lied about it. And when that wasn’t enough, he lied again under oath at trial. If he didn't commit economic espionage, then what did he make false statements about?

A major purpose of interrogation is to talk the person in circles until they say something contradictory. This allows the cops to ruin their credibility and if all else fails, they can charge them for lying to the investigators.

If you don’t understand how that happens you should really watch this video: Don’t talk to the police. The lawyer at the outset is great, but the follow up from the detective about how interrogations are managed is also worth watching. What you say can and will be used against you, not to help you.
