Fraud crackdown on Ghana ID cards makes digital checks compulsory - photocopies banned

All businesses and other institutions in Ghana must now use a biometric app scanner to check national identity cards under new rules aimed at strengthening security and curbing fraud.

Until now many of them have just visually checked or photocopied the card for their records, which has made it possible for criminals to impersonate someone.

All Ghanaian citizens and foreign residents in the country must carry a plastic biometric national ID known as the "Ghana Card".

Introduced over the last decade, the Ghana Card has become central to daily life in the West African nation and is needed to access banking services, register Sim cards and to obtain a passport or driver's licence.

The biometric data captured on the card by the country's National Identification Authority (NIA) includes 10 fingerprints, iris scans as well as a photograph and signature.

I wonder if Ghana requires this ID for people to vote.

I wonder if it’s racist for a country of mostly black people to have ID requirements,, since American liberals consider that to be the case in our country for American black people

The NIS enables:
- the creation of unique identities using proven biometric identifiers – namely fingerprints, iris and facial dimensions;

- the generation of unique personal identification numbers and their permanent assignment to individuals whose personal details are stored in the National Identity Register (NIR);

- the processing and issuance of Ghana Cards to all eligible persons who are aged zero and above;

- the collection, storage and provision of accurate and comprehensive personal information on all Ghanaian citizens living in Ghana and abroad and all permanently resident non-Ghanaians in Ghana;

- the verification of the identity of a person who possesses a Ghana Card.

I’m surprised it doesn’t include a DNA sample. That’s coming soon I expect.

“We may have to burn the Data Centers.”

Just turn off the A/C.

I was paid an absurd amount of money for scrub land in Sterling County, TX because it has two inter-state gas lines, a gas plant, solar power, and wind power — and an old WWII airstrip that can be refurbished.

Watching it get built. The cooling vessels are something you’d see in Texas City/Pasadena. Absolutely massive.

Naturally each bank and agency will have to procure the necessary scanners, enriching the insiders who manufacture and distribute them.
