Argentina is at risk of being sanctioned by FIFA after its players celebrated with a Falkland Islands banner following its semi-final win over England on Wednesday.
After the team’s dramatic comeback victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso appeared on the field with a banner saying, “Las Malvinas son Argentinas,” which translates to “The Malvinas are Argentine.”

The International Football Association Board (IFAB), football’s lawmakers, and FIFA have a clear stance on political flags, slogans and symbols being displayed.
“Equipment must not have any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images. Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising other than the manufacturer’s logo,” IFAB’s rulebook states.

Now let’s see you actually take possession of the Falklands.
Soccer is boring, but wars aren’t. Let’s see some action.
That would be bold if they took away the win.
The British military is a joke, the Argies could take it easily.
FIFA will not take this win away from VARgentina. They’ve been pulling for them this whole Cup.
With an idiot like Tuchel coaching England, Argentina didn’t need VAR today.
But Spain will win on Sunday. They will smother Argentina, like they did France.
Totally didn’t need VAR to get them out of messes today.
I’m sorry that England just wasn’t up for the game the way they should have been. Sir Mick was very disappointed.
It’s amazing (not) how people on the left do not have the slightest interest in what the people of the Falklands prefer.
The UK is so addicted to cultural suicide that its government probably would surrender the Falklands without a thought.
It’s unlikely anyone else would step up if the UK folded.
Obviously we should just give the Falklands nuclear weapons and tell the fishermen and sheep herders to defend themselves.
Sadly, I do believe they could do it now without firing a shot.
From your lips to God’s ears.
I wouldn’t be surprised if ARG pulls out the win though. They’ve been pumping the “world champions” back to back for a week or so. Makes me wonder if they’ve got that game fixed, too.
Half of Argentinian players earn good money in England. David Beckham owns Miami football club and pays good money to Messi. And, still, the idiots are running around with the meaningless slogans.
the brits had the capacity to defend the falklands 30-40 years ago. likely not now.
the broke impoverished argentines had no capability to attack the falklands and likely don’t have any now but under their current leadership that country is going to rapidly expand and throw off a lot of cash. likely one outcome will be that they expand their military capabilities sufficienly to take the falklands if the brits remain mired in their woke morass.
How long until the Brits build a Mosque in the Falklands?
And they had the Iron Lady back then.

When Argentina tried to take them back when the great Ronald Reagan was our president- i fully supported the British...
Now? Not so much....I’m going with Javier Milei
and the backing of Ronald Reagan....would Trump side with the british? Or Javier Milei?
Hard to say, but I’ll bet the decision would be based on what’s best for the USA.
