Coolidge and George Washington were on the 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence Half Dollar. Not a bad coin but didn’t sell well.

To my eye, there’s a lot of meh looking coins for sale at the mint. The Trump coin is not bad. I’d get one that is graded at NGC for sure.

> Stupid ass. Coolidge was put on a coin for the 150th anniversary. <

I will ignore your quite unnecessary personal attack - which is against FR rules by the way.

Instead I will say that you are correct about Coolidge. He was a living person when his picture was put on US currency.

But I did do my research before posting. See my link in post #15. And also the discussion here:

“ha ha, dollar gold coin measures in nanometers?”

The face value of the coin could be $1; depending on the gold content it might cost $400 to purchase from the mint.

The mint already sells gold coins without the President's image; and they sell for much more than the face value.

No living presidents on coinage please, even if I voted for him three times.

The original gold dollars were smaller than a dime and contained 1/25 of an ounce of gold. The amount of gold being the definition of a dollar, not just a price.

If we're going to mint commemorative gold medals, ditch the pretense it's a coin.

In one state it is legal to mint COINS of living persons.

Not paper currency, but coins are permitted.

They are still working on getting the $250 Trump bill printed.

Jim Rob referred to him as a charlatan. He was not far from the mark. Trump Coin, watches, sneakers….all while he is in office. That is “shuckster” stuff, by definition.

If you want to buy his coin, THIS coin; part of the presidential series, you will have to wait until he is dead for two years. Then have at it.

And if you think calling me out as anti Trump is going to hurt my feelings, you haven’t been paying attention. I am a conservative. Trump is not. I’ve been saying that since 2014. No one around here is going to be shocked.

This is a standard part of the Presidential series. They make them in the millions. And by statute, they have to wait until he is dead. Will collectors buy them? Yes, in the same way grandmas collected the state quarters.

They will be feeding these to vending machines and people will be annoyed when the come out as change.

I could think of more deserving heads to put on the coin. It has to be satire, to shake up the Liberals? 1776 had a plethora of patriotic candidates to pick for a coin face. Putting a Current president is like making a German 1940 coin. You can bet you will hear that about it, if it is true.

The "U.S. Mint" referenced here is a commercial enterprise. And the coin they mint is not legal tender.
