Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent
·11hAs America commemorates 250 years of independence, the @usmint will begin striking this new $1 gold coin to honor the enduring legacy of liberty and a lasting symbol of patriotism. Featuring President Trump, it celebrates the strength of American values, and the promise of a nation dedicated to preserving freedom for all.

No.
Yeah…thats not happening.
And for maybe the first time (not sure) the Presidents signature in being put on the new $100 bill.
Usually the signatures are the Sec of Treasury and the US Treasurer.
Trump replaces the Bessent signature. He laughed about it.
Why?
Yes it is.
Can’t read?
If it happens, I am not surprised.
Trump is love with himself and wants plaster himself all over the place. Obama was never like this yet many here think he did.
I have never seen a President like him and I never will.
“Usually the signatures are the Sec of Treasury and the US Treasurer.”
but not always: Bessent pointed out the precedents for Presidential signatures on currency ...
Would be worth a bit more than a buck.
ha ha, dollar gold coin measures in nanometers?
Why not George Washington?
Cool. Thanks.
Trump is more important than George Washington.
LOL.
He is like my dad’s male dog. Has to mark everything under the sun.
I would have put George Washington if it were up to me.
Is Trump dead? Because otherwise he is not going on money. It’s a law.
I wish these guys would put out a list of what laws we can ignore, because there are a bunch I don’t like.
I thought this was either a complete hoax or a coin minted by some private mint.
So I just looked it up. From what I can tell, the story is correct. The US Mint is indeed producing a Trump coin.
And I am frankly disgusted. It has long been the policy of the Mint that no living person be on US money. But evidently there’s a loophole connected to our 250th birthday celebration.
If I’m reading this wrong, I will happily stand corrected.

For the $100 bill, Bessent said Trump had to sign his name inside a tiny signature box using a very fine point Sharpie.
Cite the law. Bessent says otherwise.
I heard that. Had to be difficult.
if these are anything like the other SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL commemorative $1 coins, they’re clad, presumably with a thin layer of gold, though that’s actually not clear ...

OTOH, there are indeed quite a few beautiful SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL coins struck in 24K solid based on the designs of some of Americas most beautiful historic coin designs:

Unnecessary vanity project, likely to backfire. The comments in that X announcement thread are brutal.
