he Jews and the Left, Batya Ungar-Sargon’s latest book, takes readers through the long history of Jews in American political life, from George Washington’s praise for the Jews to FDR and the Civil Rights movement, concluding with the shock many Americans felt on October 7, when Hamas committed the 21st-century Holocaust that was not universally condemned.
Batya noted, “I wrote the book because the question that I get asked, maybe the most, especially by Christians, conservatives, Republicans, is ‘why do the Jews vote for the Democrats, when the Democrats hate them, and we love them?’”
Although the book ends with the aftermath of October 7, the results of the recent New York and Maine primary elections underscore the book’s relevancy today and are a dramatic postscript. A direct threat to America’s values and ideals is the recently elected Democrat candidates that include Nazis, communists, and antisemites.
Maine Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner has a chest tattoo of the Totenkopf, the skull-and-crossbones icon adopted by the infamous Nazi SS unit. He retweeted a post that characterized Judaism as a “death cult” and praised the military tactics that Hamas used in 2014 in the horrific execution of five Israeli soldiers.
Batya addresses the Nazi tattoo directly.
The left told people who were not Nazis, “You are Nazis, you are white supremacists. You are evil.” And now they’re lining up behind a guy with an actual Totenkopf tattoo and who knew what it was. And that’s not a deal breaker for them?

Jews come in all shapes and sizes—and all belief systems.
That said—the dominant organizations—with mind boggling money and power—are hard core leftists.
Jewish billionaires are almost all leftists. They have major civic involvement and heavily fund their favorite non profits—almost always with leftist agendas—or avant garde cultural effects.
There are hundreds of these organizations in the US—national, regional and local.
If those organizations went away tomorrow the left would be crippled—and quickly crushed.
One organization alone—the Anti Defamation League—has run a fanatical campaign of censorship for decades.
They have even managed to ban books on Amazon—something I initially thought impossible.
We underestimate these organizations at our peril.

I don’t know...maybe it’s because Jews have historically been liberal - in the classic sense - that they have come to think of themselves as liberals first and, maybe, then Jews. Those of previous generations have inculcated the younger ones with their liberal sense, but the kids have run with it on their own to develop a hybrid version, as younger generations tend to do.

I am just noting your observation that there are lots of Jewish people in leftist movements is equally valid in pretty much anything intellectual. There are just a lot of Jewish people in all sorts of intellectual and political pursuits, left and right.
For a well-trod example, look at Nobel Prizes.
It’s worldwide, and Jews make up something like ~0.2% of the world population. So, all things being equal, they should have 1 of the 965 Nobel Prizes.
But they have 220/965 total Nobel Prizes or roughly 1/4.
That makes no sense, unless you accept they are pretty brainy, value education, and work their asses off.
You and I don’t like leftists. So we notice who are leftists. And damned if there aren’t a bunch of Jews leading the charge.

Long way of saying, Jews are way overrepresented in anything requiring brain power and hard work.
I think the key is to get to Jewish people early and keep them out of leftist hellholes so that brainpower doesn’t get corrupted by leftist crap and used for evil.

I met Madoff and people suckered by him. He was an amazing con man.
His biggest trick was to turn down potential clients and fire clients and return their money.
It made people afraid of pissing him off by asking questions.
Interesting topic—in theory Jewish people could be raised in environments where they opposed leftism—and yes it is true that Jewish intellectuals have been on all sides of almost every important debate.
The problem is organization and propaganda.
The leftists are just so much better at it—and Jewish leftists are the true masters of the craft.
Most folks on the right—of all religions and cultures—mostly just want to be left alone to live their lives.

Leftists are the ones who kill Jews. Leftists have in history come to power when societies disintegrate. They must be mollified and assured that Jews are harmless and support those leftists. It was ever thus and ever foolish. Jews are the historical Designated Scapegoats for failure. It is easier for totalists to blame an already historically labeled scapegoat and load all their failures on to them than to invent a new one.
Actually Jews have the highest average IQ of any ethnicity or national group.
