Much has been said about Mt. Rushmore this week, and the greatness continues to astound.
However, we should leave it as is. Rather, we need a second one.

I propose building a second one featuring the giants of the country, post 1950.
Here are my 4 giants I'd include:
Ronald Reagan: elevating the US to superpower status and espousing conservatism.
Rush Limbaugh: Bring the voice of the silent majority, destroying the mass media, and making politics fun again.
Elon Musk: Celebrating the creativity of entrepreneurialism, and saving the Internet by buying and fixing Twitter, to fight against misinformation.
Donald Trump: For Making America Great again in many ways and showing how to respond when attacked. He's also the world-champion troller, making his enemies and opponents descend into rage, and uncovering who they really are.
Feel free to comment. Keep it to four.
I nominate Granite Mountain, west of Prescott AZ.
Replace Rush Limbaugh with Charlie Kirk, IMHO.
Regan is the only one of your choices I’d agree to. Getting the Soviet Union to dissolve itself, among other things, was great.
However, I really only think of Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln as our truly greats.
Pass he SAVE Act or it will have AOC, Hillary, Biden, and The Unknown Tranny on it.
Ronald Reagan deserves a Mt Rushmore but he did not make America a superpower. That would be the aftermath of World War 2.
In the future they may do just that but you would not like the people they select.
I recommend a 100x200 foot plasma screen.
Ronald Reagan, for sure.
Rush, I liked. But no.
Musk, I like, but no.
Trump, in time, maybe.
Here are two names I might not end up voting for, just throwing out for discussion: Harriet Tubman, Jonas Salk.
Neither are politicians. But both did great things in their own way.
And since I need a fourth, Rosie the Riveter to represent America’s old can-do spirit. Sadly gone now.
Jonas Salk.
Polio is pretty much forgotten and so is Salk.
That’s why I say no more. I don’t want the commies and America haters on anything.
If people want a conservative monument, I guess they could collect money and build one on private land.
We don’t need the government funding this stuff. We didn’t need the first one. It was a make-work project that took far too long to complete.
If you put the image of a living person on US currency or on a monument like Mount Rushmore (and no, it wasn’t named after Rush Limbaugh), there is always the risk that unforseen circumstances might make the decision a bad one. If a living honoree should suddenly freak out and kill someone, or commit a traitorous act against the USA, the outcome would be a mess.
So no, on that basis, Trump or Musk should not be honored in this way, at least until they pass and their entire history can be considered.
Reagan.
Trump ( if only for the Trump Accounts which will save Social Security )
Coolidge. ( the business of America is business )
Madison. ( father of the Constitution )
> Coolidge. ( the business of America is business ) <
Good choice. I considered nominating an industrialist, someone who turned America into a manufacturing powerhouse. But they were all nasty guys.
Just like there is an original 7 wonders of the world, some have proposed an additional 7 wonders of the modern world because in part only 1 wonder of the ancient world is still standing: the great pyramid at Giza.
I propose we only include presidents at the second Mount Rushmore. Reagan because he is widely given most credit any American has received for ending the cold war with USSR. What is incredible is that he was able to achieve this despite Democrats controlling the House of Representatives for his entire presidency.
Trump has been given credit for playing an active role in ending the Israel-Hamas war. But that isn’t a major accomplishment worthy of a Mount Rushmore like dedication. Trump needs a big win in the Iran war (deny Iran nuclear weapons and control of Strait of Hormuz).
