Dick Van Dyke is very liberal. And he’s not quiet about it. But he also left high school during his senior year to join the United States Army Air Force. This was during WW2.

Maybe it became more public after he married his latest wife in 2012. In May 2011, he published a book called My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business. He appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson to plug the book.
In his appearance with Craig, Van Dyke mentioned Walt Disney. Apparently, one of the reasons Walt want Van Dyke in his movies wasn't do much for his dancing and signing, but because he had published articles about being a big supporter of family values.

Well, very few people in public life are Free Republic type conservatives.
So if we’re going to judge people based only on politics, there are very few people on Free Republic we can say positive things about.
That really saddened me to find out he was an extremely woke and outspoken leftist.
