Take that, you Bosnian Losers!
I must admit, I am shocked how good the US looks, even down a man, they still controlled the game.
Belgium is going to be tough though, especially without Balogun.
Loved how they showed the stadium singing “Take me home…” without commentary, and the prayer circle. Totally different atmosphere from the other sports…. What a great game and what a great World Cup. One of the best I’ve seen so far!!!
I’m following the world cup with passion. It’s being fantastic!!!!. I noticed there’s not political activism bs, like in other sports and the olímpics. That makes the entire show so much more enjoyable.
And on top of that, the crowd singing the national anthem before the game!!!
Men's teams tend to be patriotic.
Oh ye of little faith!
Love watching crowd behind media on postgame chanting USA USA USA! Loud and proud!
It’s so much better on Telemundo, than watching Fox. Their announcers are terrible.
Always enjoy when Andrés Cantor does the games.
1. Did you get to do a sound check the day of the game, or did you just walk up and sing?
No sound check. The team would leave four tickets for me at Will Call and I was to be in our seats at least 45 minutes before game time. One of the staff (the red blazer guys) would come and get me shortly after we got to the seats. It was usually a guy named Craig and we got to know each other pretty well over those years. He and my dad, who would time a visit from Virginia around one of my anthem dates, also got on well.
I was allowed to bring one person with me down to the “catfish hole,” from where I’d walk out onto the field when it was time.
Someone would hit a B-flat for me from the organ on the second level right before I started singing.
2. Was it pre-recorded and you sang into a dead mic, or was it truly live?
Oh, it was truly live. They stuck a cordless mic in my hand shortly before go-time and I walked out to a mark near the pitcher’s mound as they announced me and sang. I always glanced up at top of the Dome as I walked out and thought, “this is for you, Mom.” She had passed young and was such a baseball fan and a patriot.
3. I’m sure you sang it well. But to what extend were you asked back because of your professionalism and NOT being a diva?
I guess I didn’t screw it up (LOL) because they always asked me back. It was an honor for me.
4. Have you sung elsewhere?
Oh yeah, I was in a couple of Top 40 cover bands starting in college, a pretty good original band in Houston that opened for the B-52s once and an acoustic duo, performing in pubs around Houston with my friend Jeff. That was all part-time and just for beer and some walking around money. More a labor of love.
Are you on Bandcamp?
I’m not sure what that is.
Thank you. That is quite an achievement. Congratulations.
Thank YOU!
😊😘♥️
Bandcamp is an independent music portal where (generally) unsigned bands can post their music for listening, and purchase.
It has a search function and you can sample 1-2 min of songs. For those of us who believe music is the best and needs new talent to lead the way, this is an oasis in the desert of Sony and Suno.
And again, congratulations. Very cool.
