A mistrial was declared in the Pacific Palisades arson case after a jury deadlocked.

Prosecutors said they will retry the case.

Last October, federal prosecutors announced that 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht of Orlando, Florida, was arrested for intentionally setting the Palisades fire.

Rinderknecht was an Uber driver at the time he intentionally set the fire.

Federal prosecutors said Rinderknecht intentionally set the fire in January 2025 which left 12 people dead and caused more than $150 billion in damage.

On Friday, a judge declared a mistrial after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict.

"The split wasn't close: 10 jurors voted to acquit Jonathan Rinderknecht, while two voted to convict," Fox News reported.

BREAKING: A federal judge declared a mistrial in the case against the man accused of intentionally starting the deadly Palisades Fire after jurors couldn't reach a unanimous verdict.

Hmmm...
10 jurors voted to acquit. Makes me wonder about the reporting on the case.

Makes me wonder about the evidence.

The fire department should have made sure the fire was out BEFORE leaving..but Bass and NewSCUM saw an opportunity to see that city burn down and fill it with low income housing..they picked the perfect city to target, a rich white area, no one in LA would care and Bass and Newsom figured fill it up with low income housing it would be win/win

From yesterday:

They may be hung up on a certain point:

BRAVE AI:

The Palisades Fire restarted after an earlier blaze known as the Lachman Fire was initially suppressed. Federal investigators, including the ATF, determined that the Lachman Fire, which occurred on New Year’s Day, was intentionally set by Jonathan Rinderknecht and appeared extinguished, but its embers continued to smolder underground within root systems and dense vegetation for six days. On January 7, predicted high winds reintroduced oxygen to these hot spots, causing the dormant fire to reignite and spread above ground, becoming the catastrophic Palisades Fire.

While some fire experts expressed skepticism about a six-day reignition, the official investigation concluded that the fire was not put out completely, but rather transitioned from a surface fire to a ground fire. This phenomenon, sometimes referred to as a “zombie fire,” allowed the blaze to remain undetected until extreme wind conditions triggered its resurgence, leading to widespread destruction in Pacific Palisades and Malibu.

AI-generated answer. Please verify critical facts.

What became of that video that appeared to show a group of hikers, including a guy in a white hat, appearing to set the fire, followed by video of guys running away from the fire...including the guy in the white hat?

I see there is an individual who posted a short, saying they were just hikers running away from the fire...the comments are mostly saying...”liar, you (or one in your group) set it”.

Did the first fire cause any damage? What responsibility does the state have to fight a fire competently or ensure a fire is completely out?

I’m trying to think of a good parallel scenario.

You're spouting utter nonsense.

Democrats care deeply about rich white areas in Los Angeles. The affluent Westside -- Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, etc. -- is where much of their fundraising comes from.

Not just locally, but nationally.

Newsom plans to run for President, so you can bet he's replying on big donations from both San Francisco/San Jose tech titans, and Los Angeles celebrities and media moguls. Many of whom live (or lived) in Pacific Palisades.

From afar I’m thinking there is some reasonable doubt.

They will try and do an Alford plea with him I bet

I wouldn’t be surprised if a few folks who lost everything in that fire track him down and vote to convict.

While some fire experts expressed skepticism about a six-day reignition,

There are a lot of factors involved: species, size, soil, depth of root, etc. but I've seen roots from a substantial Douglas Fir stump smolder for several days almost 20ft away.

The day after the Palisades fire, NewSCUM went on TV and said that “This was the perfect opportunity to reimagine the Palisades” this was a land grab, just like what happened in Hawaii, if you cant buy them out you burn them out. Go on zillow right now and type in Pacific Palisades, 90 percent of what you see is LAND for sale, no one is rebuilding, they are trying to sell their land and move on. My brother in law is a contractor, he helped build some of the homes in the Palisades that unfortunately burned down, with the regulations forget about it, no house will EVER be built..but they will have no issue building low income housing which was the plan from the start

A juror in the trial of the homeless man starting the Pacific Palasides fire said it would be a waste of time to retry him.

She said the government let it burn for 7 days.

That IS true.

It’s Karen Bass’ fault.

She’s the one that should be on trial.

Federal prosecutors say they will retry the man accused of starting the 2025 Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles after a judge declared a mistrial in the case.

I predict at most a few symbolic low-income housing in the Palisades. Very few. If that. And lots of large estates far bigger than the middle class homes they’ll replace.
