I drove by this one yesterday:
The property taxes are $71K annually.
It is under agreement for $20MM
Giant. I can’t afford to cut the grass.
Good lord. That’s an absurd price.
My house is about 1/4 that price and I pay a couple grand in property taxes.
It’s a comparable house. My house is 2000 feet smaller, newish, very overbuilt construction (steel and concrete) with 2 more garages on a lot 10 times that size on top of a mountain (fantastic view of valley and lake below and snowcapped mountain across the way) with the back yard being a national forest and the Apache reservation.
Unlike the taxes on far lesser properties, the $71K should pay for the "education" of any kids living in the house and a whole lot who are not.
It is doubtful the kids from that house would be sent to public school, so more savings to the town and district.
And the cost of infrastructure, etc.
