Good lord. That’s an absurd price.
My house is about 1/4 that price and I pay a couple grand in property taxes.
It’s a comparable house. My house is 2000 feet smaller, newish, very overbuilt construction (steel and concrete) with 2 more garages on a lot 10 times that size on top of a mountain (fantastic view of valley and lake below and snowcapped mountain across the way) with the back yard being a national forest and the Apache reservation.
Casa Griffin has about 1078 square feet of interior space and Florida weather and mosquitos (even in January).
It might fetch $400K.
Florida winters here are nice here in Sarasota County, except a week or two in January when a frost trashes a lot of plants.
Our summers are no worse than much of the rest of the lower 48.
The spring and the first month of the fall tend to be hot.
I travel in the springtime. In the early fall I’m patient and the AC runs.
Just for fun go to Realtor.com.
Do a search in the entire state of West Virginia.
Put in the parameters of 50 acres or minimum.
With a house at least 2000 square feet.
You will be amazed the size of farms and houses you can buy there for very cheap in comparison to anywhere else in the USA.
The only are that gets more expensive is the eastern most section of the state on the Maryland/VA border. Locations that are two hours or less from DC.
There was a place that sold a few months back that was around $2MM. It was an 8000 sq ft house on 50 acres. It looked like a property that would be $10MM anywhere else.
I think it would have cost $4 million to replace today.
