New York waited for a Knicks championship for more than half a century. On Thursday, the drought ends in tons of confetti and a trip down the Canyon of Heroes for what may be the largest parade in the city’s history.
The Knicks, NBA champions for the first time since 1973, will roll up Broadway in their first-ever ticker-tape parade in front of an audience that could number in the millions.
By 7:30 a.m., the NYPD announced that viewing pens were full and nobody else would be allowed into the area. Police also said no trains would be stopping south of Canal Street. Local television stations were carrying live coverage of the event for those who weren’t able to make it to lower Manhattan before the area reached capacity.
Lower Manhattan was a sea of blue and orange as large crowds waited along the route with signs, pom poms and their best Knicks merch. Every few minutes, the crowds erupted in cheers of “Knicks in 5.”
The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. near Bowling Green and head north toward a ceremony at City Hall, complete with a performance by Alicia Keys and a presentation of the key to the city.
Office workers are expected to toss thousands of pounds of shredded paper from their windows, showering the parade below in a New York tradition dating back more than 100 years. (More than 700 sanitation department workers will be on hand to sweep up afterward.)

A sports ball team winning a championship is hardly "Historic".
Boston Celtics:
“Been there...done that”.
when it happens every 50 years, it is...
Last one was 53 years ago, so yes, historic. No one does a parade like NYC.
I’m waiting for the mob riot to start during the parade.
10AM is probably too early for the youths
A content creator who wants a lot of hits might publish a piece counting the number of assaults, injuries, deaths, overturned vehicles, broken windows...
I found out yesterday that Josh Hart’s great-uncle was Yankee legend Elston Howard, who has a plaque in Monument Park.
If tge American flag is anywhere near this display of disrespectful ingrates I’ll be shocked
Let the looting begin.
Wait until nightfall..
SPORTS
What a waste of time and money.
