A new controversy has surfaced on our feeds. The Natasha doll trend revolves around a baby-shaped squeeze or stress-relief toy that some users, particularly on Chinese social media platforms, film themselves squeezing, slapping, stretching and roughly handling. What makes this so disturbing is that the doll is often dark-skinned, resembling an innocent Black baby.
Okayafrica was one of the first platforms to unearth Natasha, showcasing content creators violently manipulating the doll, often to the point of destroying the toy. Even more troubling, video footage highlighted by the outlet suggested that similar abusive behavior may be occurring with real children in Africa.
...
"The Natasha Doll trend is not an anomaly. It is a mirror. When the world selects a Black child's image as its preferred object of violence, it confirms what Black beauty professionals have always known: that the dehumanization of Black people does not begin with a fist," stated Corey Huggins, founder of Ready to Beauty, an organization that preserves and promotes Black beauty and culture.

i don’t believe in ‘possession’.
I do believe in mental illness and plain stupidity. There’s a lot of both today.
Just imagine all the money you could make manufacturing ex-spouse pin cushion dolls.. LOL
It stems from believing that a soul is the essential and eternal element of a person. I am positive that is the case. Possession is Biblical.
Don’t let these tiktokers ever have real children.
I don’t believe everything in the Bible is meant to be understood literally.
I know of some spiritual matters through peculiar personal experiences, proving to me that we do have a soul. Or, as stated to me recently, we ARE a soul attached to a disposable body. Those experiences validated Biblical context and vice versa.
I believe profoundly that we possess souls, and that they represent our real lives.
I don’t believe at all in ‘sprititual possession’.
Interesting. When I factor in the obvious existence of good and evil, and know that usury and enslavement are evils that emanate from the soul of the perpetrator, I am left with the understanding that those evil acts start in the spiritual realm. What would prevent that evil activity from occurring in the spiritual realm?
We don't know anything about the rules "over there". They hold all of the cards. How do you arrive at your belief?
I read all those books as a kid. They were great.
A lifetime of study and thought about world religious beliefs. I don’t believe we can draw the kind of comparisons you suggest between this material plane and the spiritual one, and the Unity of God doesn’t leave room, in my mind, for a Devil and Demons. But God did give man free will and sometimes our own choices create hellish circumstances for us and pervert our mentalities.
Just like you, I’m comfortable with my conclusions. I think expression of individual beliefs can make for interesting conversation; but too often they break down into argument over sectarian doctrine. I have no desire to change another person’s mind. Spiritual issues are highly individual and subjective, and no two people ever really see them in the same way.
And I don’t think they need to do.
Thank you! The problem isn't that it's "black". The problem is that it's realistically human ... and a BABY. That's some really twisted stuff, there.
Hah ...
I imagine a lot of guys would like to (pound|smash|hit|nail|hammer|etc) Natasha ... IYKWIM ...
Oh, do they ever. My godly pay grade isn't high enough for me to tell anybody what they must believe. I kind of like your viewpoint, and appreciate your friendly conversation.
Two of my very favorite! I loved the way she sounded when she said “Boris Darling”.
The Natasha Doll trend is not an anomaly. It is a mirror.
Sounds like they scored the idea from the media.
Southern Poverty Law Center ?.
How about the LaSquisha doll. Isn’t it squeezable?
I can understand why the skin color bothers many, but I’m more disturbed if it resembles a baby.
Okay, just looked up Natasha dolls. Amazon has a variety of what are otherwise called squishies/stress relievers. There’s even a Donald Trump version (somehow I’m not surprised). Most do seem to look like either male or female baby-like creatures but some are also pink, purple or blue. Some don’t look like babies, but like aliens or are reminiscent of those balloon things that blow with the wind at car dealerships.
Not getting the appeal of abusing something that looks human-like and am hoping I never get that stressed. I think I’ll stick to overeating Cadbury chocolate bars.
Same here and I just bought a Cadbury bar today. :)
