I took some visiting Scottish friends out to dinner and ordered them prime rib and New Yrk strip. They were in shock at how generous the servings were and how tasty everything was. They never had steak in Scotland because it was too expensive.
In 1990 I was in Zurich, Switzerland. A very cosmopolitan city that had menus in five languages because it is a world banking center.
I ordered a beef steak at a restaurant because I was sick of eating German/Swiss/Austrian food. There was an old man sitting next to us that asked me “what are you eating young man?” I replied steak. Beef steak. He was in his 70s.. I don’t think he had ever seen one before.
