The United Kingdom, the land of ninnies and nannies, made a good call for once, announcing Monday a social media ban for citizens under 16.
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was reportedly hesitant to follow in Australia’s footsteps and ban social media for under-16s in 2025, said “a full ban is the right choice” during a press conference at Downing Street. The ban will block Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X and Facebook, and will also clamp down on livestreaming platforms and other social media tools that allow kids to communicate with strangers.
“I want this message to be heard loud and clear. I am not prepared to compromise on the safety and happiness of our children, and that is why this ban must happen, and why this ban will happen,” he said.
A YouGov poll found that 77% of U.K. parents support an under-16 ban. Additionally, 88% of parents believe social media companies should do more to protect children from the technology’s negative effects, and 76% said the government should take a bigger role, as well. Americans also seem to support a ban, or at least stricter policies and rules for teens. A 2025 Fox News poll found that two-thirds of voters supported an under-16 ban. A 2024 poll showed similar results, with 55% of voters saying they would back a ban.
Starmer has had a brutal few weeks. Despite winning in a landslide in 2024, he is now unpopular among the British people. Labour Party Members of Parliament are revolting against his leadership. And his country is rocked by the case of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who bled to death in police custody after he was falsely accused of a hate crime by his killer, Vickrum Digwa.

Concerned parents could simply supply their kids with voice only flip phones.
It’s all about the digital ID.
Notice ... “Bluesky” left out ... hmmmmm
Good luck enforcing it ...
This censorship law is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The real goal is to enable the UK government to track everyone. https://t.co/aZKpGDdPmX— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 15, 2026
They also want to lower the voting age to 16. If kids are too immature / stupid to use social media, how can they be mature enough to know what they’re voting on. Bunch of Tide pod eaters.
It’ll be funny if they end up voting Reform.
What is “social media”?
Is Youtube social media? You can create an account, leave comments, like other user’s comments, interact with others, etc...
Is FreeRepublic social media?
How about the comments on news articles?
How about the NextDoor app?
Rather than making laws against what people are allowed to do, revoke the protections already created for online companies. If they participate/encourage/facilitate/assist in something harmful happening to someone, then they can be held liable. Let the companies decide how to structure their businesses in a way to avoid liability.
Every kid who ends up with a porn addiction because the porn companies didn’t ensure their product wasn’t being consumed by 12 year olds, should be able to sue them. Put the onus on the porn companies to figure out a way to prevent 12 year olds from consuming their material.
Here is a clue though....12 year olds gaining access to porn isn’t a bug in the system of the internet, it’s an intended feature.
The UK government (including Keir Starmer) protects and facilitates gangs of child rapists.
This action is not to “protect the children.” That is simply an Orwellian excuse.
But they want kids as young as 12 to be able to start mutilating themselves on the “trans” road.
Now you are going to have to prove your ID anytime you get on the ‘net.

That’s right.
“I want this message to be heard loud and clear. I am not prepared to compromise on the safety and happiness of our children, and that is why this ban must happen, and why this ban will happen,” he said.
Idiots think they can ban something and everything it will be hunky dory. Fool, the cat's out of the bag. Keir Starmer has never heard of a virtual private networks hosted offshore and thus off-limits.
