Kate Winslet is proud to say she’s aging naturally.
The “Titanic” actress, 50, weighed in on the topic of plastic surgery as she confirmed that she “hasn’t got anything” done or injected into her face...
Winslet called it “devastating” that so many people, specifically other women in Hollywood, are undergoing cosmetic procedures and using weight loss drugs...
“Some are making choices to be themselves, others do everything they can to not be themselves,” the Oscar winner continued. “And do they know what they are putting in? The disregard for one’s health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f–king chaos out there.”
Winslet noted that she’s upset ... by “people who save up for Botox or the shit they put in their lips.”
“My favorite thing is when your hands get old,” she said, after showing the reporter lines on her face to prove she hasn’t gotten botox. “That’s life, in your hands.”
“Some of the most beautiful women I know are over 70 and what upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is,” she shared.
To support her argument, the “Mare of Easttown” star mentioned seeing a young woman on a BBC news article about a car crash who “looked like a cartoon.”
Winslet also confirmed that she still takes public transportation in London and has noticed nobody looks up from their phones.
“It’s heartbreaking,” she said. “Nobody’s looking into the f—ing world any more.”

“And then I went into the Navy, where it was an unofficial contest to see how frequently and dexterously a man could use the “F” word, I excelled.”
I did the same, but mine at least was only in front a small group of family members, and one time, but for a few seconds you could have heard a pin drop. Then everybody busted out laughing.
Good for you lady.
The Quacks that muck up women’s faces are evil bastards. There is one that always screws their mouths up, every time. Batman Joker smiles . Freaks !
Cussing well and properly is an art. In the past, it was the realm of men and was used judiciously and effectively in our communications. Being able to cuss at just the right time and in the right way was an element of masculinity. It generally has no place in public or formal discourse, and its overuse today is vulgar and embarrassing.
Was yesterday walking into the gym when out came a young (late 30’s) woman with a kid and a guy (husband?) who looked like he’d had his soul removed. She was on a rant about some other woman, and the f-bombs were plentiful. I want nothing to do with such people, and feel very sorry for both the child and the guy she was with.
My grandmother never used soap on her face - just warm water and a cloth followed by patting her face with a towel. She has incredible beauty at 83 as did her sister.
If you’re not a writer, you should be one.
You are correct in that the commandment which forbids the taking of the Lord’s name in vain does have a specific meaning, however there are many passages on the issue, and I think you are in grave error not only denying the application of those passages, but actually advocating the same to others.
There are four subcategories, swearing, obscenity, vulgarity, and profanity.
There is also a positive principle, that your speech must always edify.
Others have said here that cussing is a sign of low intellect, but that is not your problem. Your problem is that one day you will stand before the terrible white throne.
“...for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain!”
Believing these people who justify their corrupt speech?
THAT is the sign of low intellect.
Just a few weeks ago someone posted about the “Charlie’s Angels” gals posing for a picture together. They looked like carnival clowns. Their “work” was ridiculous.
Beauty is only a light switch away...
She told an amusing story about her son’s schoolmates. A friend realized that she’s that actress, and he told her son in a concerned voice not a bragging one, “I’ve seen your mom’s boobs.”
Agreed.
I have worked with guys who said effin-this, effin-that, effidy eff eff eff. It was hard to listen to them as every cuss word could easily be subsituted with “duh”.
Why is this drek even rising to the level of “news”?
hahahaha!
When my son got out of the Navy after 6 years (he was in a sub for very long periods of time) he cussed and used the f’n word in about every sentence.
Finally he went somewhere with his older bro and he had to tell my other son to cut it out. Even my oldest son was embarrassed by it.
The young and the older still use it, but it is not excessive as it was then.
There are times “shucky dern” just damn well ain’t good enough!
My liberal younger brother froths at the mouth in a manner that makes her seem pious. He is a PhD candidate in education. That seems ironic.
I always appreciate it when someone tells me I might be making a mistake or when someone points out general pitfalls of something.
As an adult I am perfectly capable of either ignoring what people are saying or deciding it’s useful. They can keep talking or not, especially when there comments are not directed at any one person.
Thank you to both of you for your kind words…as you can probably surmise, I do enjoy using Free Republic as a forum to sharpen my writing skills.
For about the last 15 years, I write things about my life (trying mostly to keep it somewhat unidentifiable, for obvious reasons) and I save text snippets of what I write to a folder, so I have a lot of of my experiences in life written down. I’ve been writing down as a bulwark against the day that I may have trouble remembering them, which is already happening… But that’s OK. That’s the way life is… :-)
I often write long posts, that most people don’t read, and I am not offended in any way by that (although some people do get a bit negative about it) but although brevity is considered to be elemental to good writing, I ignore that unless the situation calls for it.
I have a completely average, normal, and comfortable life. I retired almost exactly a year ago from a high pressure, demanding and rewarding job, with awesome people, at a hospital I worked at for 38 years.
I cannot express how wonderful it is to be retired.
Today is a Monday. I am not in my car driving to work, or at my desk working.
I made a cup of coffee, set out peanuts for my Blue Jay friends, did a few rounds of Tai Chi, watched the birds, questioned my lovely wife about her Garden of Eden, and let her describe all the things she had done, is doing, and what is coming next as the Summer progresses. It was just...fantastically relaxing.
Quite a contrast to what I was doing, which was pretty stressful because things could go sideways at any second and affect hundreds of my co-workers and patients, and I would be the point person for getting the issue resolved. I miss the people and patients greatly, but I surely do not miss that stress.
I am going to start a vanity thread after I finish this post about my wonderful backyard paradise, which is exactly 1/4 acre of a fenced in Garden of Eden...:). Sometimes I believe that I am an exceptionally average person, which makes the telling of stories about my life just wonderful to me.
Wonderful, not because I am exceptional or special, really, but in the context that there are millions, if not billions of people who enjoy many of the same things I do, in the same way, and...we are not rich (well...perhaps others might consider me as such who have less money than I do, but that is human nature. I harbor exactly no resentment towards someone like Elon Musk...I have what I want in life.
I do hope someday soon to write a book...nobody may read it, but it will be mine!
Yep! I can see that clearly in my mind, having been through it!!!

Women are only one face wipe away from their true selves.
