Steven Spielberg Says Taylor Swift Has “No Peer” in Songwriters Hall of Fame Speech
Consequence of Sound ^ | June 12, 2026 | Eddie Fu

Posted on 06/12/2026 2:35:53 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Steven Spielberg praised Taylor Swift while inducting her into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday:

“I am honored to be here tonight to introduce the youngest female ever to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame...A woman who has no peer when it comes to shattering records as a writer, singer, and storyteller. A singular artist and a genuine phenomenon whose place in our culture rivals that of the composers of the American Songbook, Lennon and McCartney of the ’60s, and the singer-songwriters of the 1970s like Carole King and Stevie ‘Let’s Go’ Nicks.”

He continued by lauding Swift’s “innate gifts” and “fearless determination to stand up for all artists’ rights” as well as her respect for producers, co-writers, and fellow songwriters, who have influenced her since she first picked up a 12-string guitar.

Spielberg later admitted, “I asked AI if it could tell me how many words have been written about Taylor Swift. And you know what? It couldn’t tell me,” he recalled.

“Then I asked it, how many words have been written by Taylor Swift? And it couldn’t tell me that either. And I just thought, wow, she is such a force that the depth of her achievements [defies] AI. I should have known that something that starts with ‘artificial’ wouldn’t have a clue. Because no algorithm can replace the soul of a true original who defies the status quo.”

After describing Swift’s fearless embrace of artistic risks and “impermeable” connection with fans, Spielberg closed out his speech by saying, “Thank you, Taylor, for the gift of your stories and for insisting on being an authentic voice in a world where the line between real and fake is increasingly blurred.”

I don’t think there is any doubt that Taylor writes the bulk of her songs. They are mostly about her life.

Unfortunately, I’m older than Methuselah.

I’m fifty-five, so I remember most of the artists on your list.

Look at her catalog. She has collaboration on approximately 70% of her songs. From Grok

Taylor Swift has collaborated with dozens of unique songwriting co-writers over her career (roughly 50–70+ distinct individuals for released songs, depending on exact criteria).

Just like Cole Porter. Lennon/ McCartney, Carol King, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Elton John/Bernie Taupin, Dylan, Rodgers/Hart, Rodgers/Hammerstein, Brian Wilson, Diane Warren, Bacharach/David, Newley/Bricusse. You know great songwriters who work solo or in a team of two.

50-75 years ago. It’s new world. Taylor is listed as “writer” or “co-writer” on virtually every song she has released. Ask Grok about that.

Collaborating doesn’t mean other people are writing all her songs. It means co-marketing and expanding sales. And staying fresh and getting new ideas
It’s a path for success, and it has worked.

Find the post where I said her name wasn’t on every song. I know her name is one every song along with her troops of worker bees. It’s the new world of knowing how much money in the music world is tied up in royalties and her team making sure her name is included, even if her input is minimal.

Why would she want to split her fees if she was genius enough to write everything on her own?

She’s an ok songwriter. If she was a “great” songwriter she wouldn’t have to dig up 70 people to help her.

I’ve got a decent handle on it having been here since 96

It’s not exactly a greatly kept secret Taylor collaborates but regardless her names always on publishing that’s her agreement I reckon to keep those BMI or ASCAP checks coming

I don’t know if you follow Otis Gibbs podcast but he did one on songwriters here

About a dozen of the best write the bulk of country hits (pop as u know already)

They all collaborate but Miranda lambert wrote a lot
To her credit

Songwriting is hard

I helped Craig wiseman rescue his horse that jumped the fence one night tween leipers and west haven

Being horse farm owner at that time we kind of knew what to do

We stopped him

A big saddle or dressage horse and damn if the horse not leap the fence back into the pasture whe wiseman showed up in his truck
He introduced himself and had Dobie gray and Michael mcdonald with him

As well my cousin from Mississippi a session player aspiring to write who hangs with Dobie

In the dark I hear someone yelling “cuz” lol

Small universe here I can tell u even smaller now with celebs everywhere especially older rockers.

We get back in my truck my two oldest sons aged 12-14 then are like who are those people dad besides Robin whom they knew

Wiseman is a top three all time writer

Harlan Howard arguably #1

/story off
