Cardi B is being mocked for her response to the Karmelo Anthony verdict, with commenters saying she learned the exact wrong lesson from justice being served.
“Wow! Just freakin wow! DISGUSTING,” she wrote on X soon after the verdict was read. “This is not justice, this is trying to make an example!!!”
The rapper also hosted a live conversation on X on Wednesday, complaining about having to tell her sons it’s not okay to argue with white people.
“I sure learned something from this. I learned to tell my sons, if a white boy … do not argue with no white boys … ‘cause baby, ain’t no law protecting you if something goes down with them. That’s what I learned from this case. I’mma tell my sons, you arguing with a white boy, walk the f*ck away. ‘Cause the law don’t protect you.”
Anthony, 19, was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a high school athlete, whom he fatally stabbed at a track and field meet in Frisco, Texas, in April 2025. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison and has already filed an appeal.
While Anthony’s family claims he was targeted for his race and that Metcalf provoked him, video evidence reportedly shows that Anthony refused requests that he leave the track team’s tent before he stabbed Metcalf. The jury agreed that the killing was not self-defense, as Anthony’s defense and supporters claimed.
Some social media users pointed out the flaws in Cardi B’s logic.
“In her dumb and convoluted way, she does seem to have inadvertently learned a good lesson — teach your kids not to stab other kids, because they will go to prison,” podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey observed.
“I don’t know how but this trial and the aftermath have demonstrated a significant cultural problem within certain circles or communities. The outrage because this dude got pushed in high school and he wasn’t allowed to kill in response is about as big a red flag as you can find,” another person wrote.
“How about don’t stab and murder a white boy or murder anyone and then you don’t have to worry about a murder charge and being held accountable. Can she buy some common sense, I know she can afford it,” another person wrote.

At one of the Martin Luther King Day events I attended at my university before I retired (I went to all of them. At this one the speaker leading off said “We used to have nearly half attendance by white people honoring Dr. King here but now it is down to maybe 10%. That’s a shame.”) the young black woman faculty member showed on a white board some sayings.
For “All people are created equal and should be afforded equal rights.” was from MLK.
She said: “In his lifetime that would have been considered something admirable. Today, it is not. It neglects to say that black people deserve and should get extra rights and reparations. Equality implies no better than anyone else instead of making up for the wrongs.”
Cardi B is right though - it is all about race.

Hey Cardi, have you considered what would have happened if the races were reversed? If a white guy had killed a black guy in the exact same situation, the white guy would have been sentenced to life in prison, not just 37 yrs.
