Gasps heard in court as teen killer Karmelo Anthony sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering Austin Metcalf, 17

Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of murder for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet.

There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when his 35-year sentence was passed down on Tuesday evening. He will be eligible for parole after serving half of the time.

The same jury found Anthony guilty of murder earlier in the day for the stabbing death of Metcalf in 2025.

When the decades-long sentence was announced two women were escorted out of the courtroom after they said 'We love you Karmelo!' following the sentencing.

It came after the judge had already informed those in the public gallery that anyone having an emotional outburst would be removed from the courtroom.

Anthony, 19, sobbed and his family burst into tears as the judge read the guilty verdict. His mother had begged a jury to show him 'mercy' ahead of sentencing.

Jurors were then presented with arguments from the defense and prosecution before being sent out to deliberate on the length of his punishment.

Following Anthony's sentencing, victim impact statements were read aloud by members of Metcalf's devastated family including his aunt and the teenager's father.

He won’t get parole. He’ll serve the entire 35 years.

If someone were to do something, I wouldn’t shed a tear.

Not even one ...

Not enough. Should be 350 years.

I wouldn’t complain if a little prison justice was dispensed..

It wouldn’t even bother me.

What an absolute waste of taxpayers’ money. Ol’ Sparky would have been a more appropriate choice for this murderer.

I don’t think he’ll live long enough to. He will lip off to the wrong inmate or take himself out of the gene pool because prison is hard.

Blame the feds. They won’t allow anybody under the age of 18 at the time of the crime to be executed.

I was thinking a pocket knife to the heart.

it’ll probably be a sharpened tooth brush or comb but that works too.

Texas prisons are strict, and if he’s as much of a screw up as his crime suggests he’ll do far more than the minimum. How much time he does after the 17 is entirely up to him.

He was 17 a few months ago. How did he get so old?

he’ll be 54 when he gets out, and like most of us at that age, starting to decline.

True. But think of the street cred he will have. (And the anal leakage problem...)

Four black students testified against Anthony. If he had stabbed one of them instead of the white kid none of those protesters would have given a crap about him.

But he didn't. I think he was looking for a white victim. I think this was a Hate Crime.

The chair should be kicked out from under him.
Watching him dance would deter others.

Should have been 50-to 60 if half of that is parole. Sad for the family of Austin. Anyway, no more pics, looks like someone complained to mods and now all my posts are “under review”. Sigh.....
