No POTUS has ever attended an NBA Finals game. Trump last attended an NBA game in 2014. It is a streak of no attendance I would prefer he had continued.
I get why he wants to go (some of it is about himself, just like the July 4th celebration). I just see more downside than upside.

Barack Obama attended Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals in Toronto but he was out of office.

Obama was an ex-POTUS at the time. In a friendly environment in Toronto and all of the socialists there. Minimal security inconvenience to Toronto, the fans, and the teams. With Trump, now the same, and you damn well know it.
