Mel Gibson's cancer cure claim linked to ivermectin surge, experts warn
MSN.com ^

A peer-reviewed study in JAMA Network Open found that US ivermectin prescriptions jumped 97% in the six months after Mel Gibson told Joe Rogan’s podcast audience that the drug, combined with fenbendazole, cured three friends’ stage 4 cancers. Researchers analysed health records from more than 68 million patients across 67 health systems. Prescribing rates rose 2.5-fold among cancer patients, with white patients, men, and those in the southern US showing the largest increases.

"'When prescribing for an unproven cancer treatment more than doubles after a single podcast, especially among men and people in the South, it raises a concern that patients may be skipping or delaying treatments we know work in favor of something that hasn't been proven to help them.'"

Experts warn there is no clinical trial evidence that ivermectin or fenbendazole can safely or effectively treat cancer in humans. While some lab and animal studies suggest possible anti-cancer activity, the doses needed could be toxic and may interfere with chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Doctors fear patients may skip or delay proven treatments, undermining survival chances and increasing health risks.

Gibson’s January 2025 appearance on 'The Joe Rogan Experience' reached an audience of over 60 million views in one month, amplifying his unverified claims. Researchers and clinicians say celebrity endorsements can quickly sway patient decisions, especially among those seeking hope outside conventional medicine. The study underscores how influential media moments can rapidly alter prescribing patterns nationwide.

White men like ivermectin. It will be banned by the next Dem administration. Guaranteed.

Ivermectin’s efficacy with cancer is questionable, there’s more evidence with the other anti-parasite drugs. Plus the compound in Ivermectin that kills parasites destroys their nervous system and it’s possible that with very high doses (over 24 mgs) some will slip passed the blood brain barrier in humans and cause brain damage. Personally I’d go with niclosamide over Ivermectin.

AI
Niclosamide is an FDA-approved anthelmintic drug being repurposed as a multi-targeted anticancer agent due to its ability to inhibit multiple oncogenic pathways and activate tumor suppressors. It exerts its effects by inhibiting Wnt/β-catenin, STAT3, mTOR, Notch, and KRAS pathways while activating p53, AMPK, and PP2A in various cancer types including breast, prostate, colon, lung, and glioblastoma.

Key mechanisms and clinical status include:

Metabolic Disruption: Niclosamide acts as a mitochondrial uncoupler, disrupting cancer cell metabolism and counteracting the Warburg effect.
Stem Cell Targeting: It suppresses cancer stem cells (CSCs) and reduces metastasis by inhibiting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and downregulating factors like Snail and MMPs.
Synergy: It enhances radiosensitivity and improves the efficacy of immunotherapy (e.g., PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors) by modulating immune-suppressive cells and reducing STAT3 nuclear translocation.
Clinical Trials: Several clinical trials (e.g., NCT02687009 for colon cancer) are ongoing to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with refractory malignancies, with early-phase results showing an acceptable safety profile

“Experts”

Aren’t they the ones who told us Ivermectin was a dangerous horse dewormer with no application to humans?

Yeah, “experts”.

“Experts warn there is no clinical trial evidence that ivermectin or fenbendazole can safely or effectively treat cancer in humans.”

Why not?

If you want to learn more, read the book “Cancer Care” by Paul E Marik MD FCCM FCCP which is on Amazon. It goes into detail about using repurposed drugs to cure cancer. Ivermectin is one.

Why not?

Because no pharmaceutical company will shell out the big bucks to prove something will work if there is no profit in it.

There is no interest in finding a cure, only in making money for shareholders and in turn executives.

I just started on ivermectin and waiting for the fenbendazole to be delivered.

I was diagnosed 6 months ago

Don't notice much difference except for feeling tired, occasional nausea and difficulty getting the spelling correct,,,(maybe just old age at 84) any way I went for a long walk today and my BP was 109/63/94 afterwards.

GOOD!!

We’ve been stocked up since 2021.

God Bless Mel for getting the truth about IVM out ... while we know BigPharma has been squelching all studies/reports for decades. They have to continue their slash and burn exorbitant “treatments” .... to pay for those new wings and satellite locations.

IVM is a cheap repurposed drug ... no money to be made.

I have it downloaded on my laptop.

I also subscribe to Dr Marik’s substack. He personally thanked me.

A genuinely nice doctor.
