Quentin Tarantino is not a fan of the majority of movies coming out of Hollywood these days. Writing for Sight & Sound magazine, the Oscar winner revealed that “it’s almost impossible” for him these days to watch a new movie and not pick it “to death.”
“Flaws, implausibilities, audience pandering, miscast performers or just plain stupid shit usually torpedoes every new movie coming out of the flavorless sausage factory that used to call itself Hollywood,” the director explained. “These days, the entire concept of what is a movie is more inclined to inspire contempt in me than generosity. Which is fair enough, because by comparison the movies of the last six years make the 80s seem like the 30s.”
“I’ve seen movies I liked since then – ‘West Side Story’ (2021); ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Chapter 1 and 2 (both 2024), a few others, but nothing that really held me in its grip and swept me away to the magical land of enjoyment that I use to visit regularly and was the reason I loved movies above all other artforms. These days I’d rather read a book,” Tarantino added.

Bottom line, movies these last decades suck.
“These days I’d rather read a book”
What’s a book?
It’s not entertainment anymore it’s Training
Projection from this guy whose movies any decent person has the basic dignity to either not see or walk out of
Agreed.
I’ve probably seen every movie he’s ever done.....or tried to anyway.
IMO every single movie he did was worse than the one before it.
And when he began to portray all White people as overt racists he lost me for good.
Audience pandering? With all the mega woke flops I think the audiences think otherwise
“What’s a book?”
It’s a digital file you download from Amazon or Kindle to listen to on your favorite digital device. 😁
Years ago my great aunt went to go to her NYC suburb movie house to see pulp fiction
The ticket guy knew my aunt said no I can’t let you see this
That’s Tarantino
I believe it.
When my wife and saw that movie when it first came out 2 men sitting in front of us in the theater got up and left in the first five minutes.
My life was different back then and in that season I actually liked it.....now, not so much.
Nothing says "ignore" quite like a multi-part essay series on how much you don't like the movie.
An on-the-nose description of Hollywood.
He ain’t wrong.
Quentin, that’s one charming pig now, ten times more charming than that pig on Green Acres.
Hollywood has run out of ideas.
Which is why remakes are so popular.
The last movie I saw in an actual theater was the final Mission Impossible.
It was an entertaining film. Good story, fast paced, pretty woman, incredible stunts. Especially the ending with Cruise riding on the biplane.
hollywood has been drinking the DEI koolaid for a few years... and it shows
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is one of Quentin’s movies that is on my list. I have a list of movies that I am willing to watch time and time again.
The only Quintin Tarantino movie I really enjoyed was that “Inglorious” one with Brad Pitt.
I meant to spell it as Quentin. My mistake.
