Olog-hai: "What is the “anti-american Right” and what exactly makes them right wing?"

Thanks for a great question!
Why do some alleged "conservatives" hate their country, and even hate the people who are trying to set it right again?

MAGA Conservatives, 2024 election results by county:

We could spend a lot of time on this one, but I'll try to summarize:

  1. Off-the rails nutcases -- Tucker Carlson comes to mind, I don't know what he is anymore, pro-Russian, pro-Islamicist, anti-American?
These guys & gals (Owens) are spinning off into the infinite void of click-baiting crazy-talk.

  2. Racist Right -- Nick Fuentes, who is that? I never heard of him, but suddenly he's a "right-wing" influencer expressing positive opinions of Hitler, Nazis & other authoritarians. WTF??!

  3. Traditional Libertarians -- Rand Paul, Thomas Massy who enjoy the gadfly role and often vote Libertarian ideology over party loyalty, even to the detriment of the US as a whole.
Sometimes joined by "Libertarian-lite" leaders like Sen. Lee and Congressman Roy, though seldom on the most critical votes (I'm not critical of Lee & Roy, just thankful they usually vote with the President, not Rand Paul).

  4. Never Trumpers -- Cheney, Kinsinger & Co., so blinded by Trump Derangement Syndrome that they'd vote against baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet if it would hurt Trump and Trump supporters.

  5. Who else -- who am I forgetting to mention?
The internet's weird undergrowth of political opinions and influencers is doubtless more extensive than I know about, and some claim to be "conservative" or "right wing" when in reality, they hate everything about America and our now 250+ year history.
Bottom line: both "conservative" and "right wing" have historically movable and debatable definitions -- they don't mean the same things to different people from different places and times.
By some definitions, neither means pro-American, MAGA or Republican.
When I was a young fellow (1960s) there was a major successful effort to drive such people out of the American conservative movement.
Today, it seems like some are trying to creep back in...

I’ll go on the record once again and say that such people as you named are on the left. They always have been on the left, too. Not once have they articulated any position that could be construed as “right wing”, and that includes pandering to religion or even fiscal responsibility.
