President Donald Trump has a type, at least when it comes to political candidates. They tend to be brash, razor-tongued mold-breakers, hardliners who want to own the libs, political newcomers unhindered by norms or niceties.
Then there’s Steve Hilton, a Republican who has a shot at being California’s next Governor. Hilton’s resumé reads like the opposite of what you’d expect for the next leader of a state that backed Kamala Harris over Trump by 20 points. A British-born dual U.S.-U.K. citizen since 2021, Hilton was once a member of Margaret Thatcher’s political machine and a senior adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron’s coalition government before becoming a Fox News personality. In most other blue states, Trump’s endorsement would be the kiss of death. But under California’s jungle primary system, the top two vote-getters get to face each other in a head-to-head contest in November, regardless of party. If the latest polls bear out, Hilton is well-positioned to advance.
On a half-hour call with me this week, Hilton explained how he sees his competitiveness in the race as one of many signs that Californians are rejecting the hold-the-line liberalism that has defined California politics for a generation.
“We've had 16 years of one-party rule, and the results are in. And it's a massive disappointment on every front,” Hilton says. “People are sensing that there's an energy for change this year. You can feel it in the energy around Spencer Pratt's campaign [for Mayor] in L.A. You can feel it around the response that we're getting up and down the state.”
Helping Hilton be seen as more than just another Trump loyalist is a campaign approach emphasizing measured promises to make life easier at the granular level and pledges to work with the state’s Democratic majority.

Once Newscum is no longer governator of Commiefornia the state will be better. Unless another demonrat wins, which is most likely.
These demonic Democrats did not come out of a political or social vacuum. They are the majority. California is beyond political redemption.
The first paragraph is an attack on Trump that has nothing to do with the rest of the article.
Biden’s staff considered Becerra incompetent:
“Multiple former Biden administration officials have described Xavier Becerra as ineffective and unprepared during his tenure as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. Six anonymous former officials told Politico that Becerra was ‘not effective’ in managing crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic...with one stating he was an “unfortunate choice” for the Cabinet.”
Looks like he’ll fit right in as the next governor of California.
The one place to not look for insight into why Hilton is doing well is Time magazine. Hilton’s success is only “surprising” to liberals living in an echo chamber. And, of course, Time just can’t write an article like this without orienting it their political lodestone, Donald Trump. The first sentence is about Trump and Hilton’s candidacy can only be viewed in terms of whether he is a Trump loyalist or whether he is fighting the Trump loyalist label. Hey Time, there is a whole world out there that is trying to survive the absolute wreckage wrought by Democrat policies that has nothing to do with whether a candidate is a Trump loyalist.
‘stop doing stupid things’ will leave the DNC useful idiots unemployed
I suppose my daughter would be considered a dual U.S. - U.K. citizen, born in England while I was serving in the U.S. Air Force, she has a "Certificate of Birth Abroad" issued by the State Department to prove she is a U.S. citizen, and also a British Birt Certificate issued in Lakenheath village, Suffolk.
However, in my view, if she were to run for public office in the U.S., she should denounce her U.K. citizenship.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
Chad Bianco seems determined to screw it up.
Renounce, not denounce, but yes.
