A federal judge appointed by Barack Obama has banned Donald Trump from adding his name to the Kennedy Center.
US District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled Friday that the President-appointed Kennedy Center Board's decision to include his name on the performing arts venue was unlawful.
Trump was sued by Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty, who has standing in the case because she serves as an ex officio member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees as a member of Congress.
'The Kennedy Center's organic statute makes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board's unilateral say-so,' Cooper wrote.
'Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,' he added.
Cooper also ruled that Trump could not close the center for two years for renovations.
In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump savaged the ruling and said he would work with Congress to transfer the Kennedy Center from the Department of Commerce back to Capitol Hill 'giving them the responsibility for its Operation, Maintenance, and Management.'
'Judge Cooper should be ashamed of himself!' the President said.

Trump should have stopped this from the beginning. He had nothing to do with the creation of the Kennedy Center. There were good things about JFK’s presidency that merited this memorial. There will be many ways to memorialize Trump without leaving him open to the charge (with a germ of truth to it) of having a puffed-up ego.

I think Obama judges need to be weeded out of the system as that’s what it seems Democrats always try to do. Having Obama as president was one of the really bad decisions that somebody made; not saying it was the voters.
