Robert Jenrick confirms Reform would ban Kirpan blades following murder of Henry Nowak

Robert Jenrick has confirmed Reform UK would ban the carrying of ceremonial blades like the Sikh Kirpan, which was held alongside another knife by murderer Vickrum Digwa.

Speaking to GB News, the Reform economics spokesman said his party would end the existing legal protections that allow blades to be carried as part of a cultural practice.

Mr Jenrick was questioned on the issue after Digwa, 23, was found guilty at Southampton Crown Court of murdering university student Henry Nowak.

The 23-year-old was holding a 'Kirpan', a religious knife carried by initiated Sikhs as a mandatory article of faith.

GB News National Reporter Charlie Peters said: “In Wembley Stadium, I certainly couldn't sign up with a razor should I want to have a shave at half time, but Sikhs are allowed to go into the stadium with a five-inch blade.

“Do you think the law should change now? To get rid of that differing appreciation of who can carry a blade and a dagger?”

“Well, first it's worth saying in this case, the killer was actually carrying two knives. Of course, one was a shorter ceremonial dagger. The other was a much longer blade,” Mr Jenrick began.

“The actual blade that was used to kill Henry was a 21-centimetre blade, which may not have been eligible for the limited exception that is under the law for religious swords and daggers.

“But to answer your question directly, I do think the law should change. Is there a place on our streets for swords and daggers? No. And should people be treated differently depending on their faith? No.”

Charlie asked: “So Reform would change that law then?”

Mr Jenrick replied: “That's a yes, it would do. It's something our Home Affairs spokesperson, Zia Yusuf, will look into.

“What they really want is a docile population that can be slaughtered with ease.”

Even pepper spray is a felony (10 years) in Britain. They just want you vulnerable.

On a related note, I’ve had to travel with a security team in the past due to being credibly targeted by ELF terrorists.

We had to go through all sorts of hoops and ended up having to go with a local team. Through the process, I learned that NY state bars 99% of people from wearing body armor and it was a huge PIA for my normal team.

The only reason for this is to make it easier to be killed.

As long as they're claiming religious reasons for carrying weapons...

> Peaceful people don’t walk around with scimitars as part of their religion.

There’s just something wrong with you to come to such a hideously wrong conclusion.

Did you look into why Sikhs came to be carrying sharp pointy things as a religious practice?

It’s just common sense morality for me to EDC, but if I were a true Christian I would justifiably consider it arising from my religion.

The Sikhs have privileges that the English, Scots, and Welsh lack. In the current British system, the peoples who have inhabited their country for over 1,500 years (English) or over 3,000 years (Scots and Welsh) are on the bottom of the social structure unless their net worth is in the millions of pounds.

If the Reform Party wants to ban knives, they are no better than the Labour, Conservative, and Liberal Parties: globalists with some anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Because this was the nation that stared down Hitler.

Also the nation that kissed his ass in 1938.

Yeah. Making nice with your sworn enemy simply doesn’t work in the long run. You’d think they would have learned from that. But I guess not.

What an idiot Charles is. As bad as Chamberlain was.

I oppose that. The kirpan is one of the 5Ks Sikhs ar erequired to carry. You might just as well ban the Sikh religion.

Wrong move.

Require all law-abiding citizens to carry a well-honed halberd.

You not a US Citizen? Here in the USA it’s RKBA all the way, daggers included. MY EDC is not subject to your feelings and testicular fantasies. I guess you don’t know how the tradition of the kirpan started? It was adopted in the face of Islamic tyranny as a symbol of readiness to protect the innocent.

The suggested ban on the kirpan in the UK is a kneejerk reaction that imposes collective guilt on all members of the Sikh religion.

It is immoral to demand potential victims should go about unarmed because a crime was committed by a nutcase. Democrat traitors and ignorant foreigners have no difficulty suggesting such things.

The Sikhs were created as a buffer people between Hindu and Muslim regions during the Mughal era, if memory serves. It was thought that they could keep peaceful relations with both sides. My impression is that they ended up getting bashed by both parties, with the end result that self-defense and defense of family and tribe became a primary obligation of the culture, the ceremonial dagger being one of several requirements for all Sikhs. Their culture of martial discipline made them logical choices for policing duties under British rule. The ones I have known personally were honorable and likeable, FWIW.

All to deflect from the fact that the pigs who arrested Nowak screwed up.
