Box office numbers for “Supergirl” look bleak after lead star Milly Alcock sparked backlash for mocking Christian dads.

According to Box Office Theory, the DC superhero movie — which comes out June 26 — is expected to make between $47 million and $65 million in its opening weekend and between $107 million and $181 million in its full domestic run.

The budget for the James Gunn-directed film was reportedly around $170 million, while the marketing spend is estimated to exceed $75 million, bringing the total to around $245 million.

To break even, “Supergirl” needs to make around $425 million worldwide

Supergirl was originally created in the 50s as a role model for little girls, basically a "Disney Princess" (in the traditional sense, not the modern slop) for comic book readers. Maybe the studio should have stuck with that model, instead of "drunken foulmouthed fugly chick"

Anyone who pays $$ to see a James Gunn film is putting $$ in the pocket of a pedophile.

I’ve noticed that young people raised on superhero movies and tiktok videos lack the capacity to sit through normal films. One response during Master and Commander, just after they ventured around the cape and lost a crewman was, “nothing’s happening”.

Why does the internet hate Milly Alcock? s/b Why does Milly Alcock hate Americans and her employer?

This version of Supergirl is based on a 2021 story “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King. This film is just continuing the nihilistic themes of recent superhero movies.

The disappointment continues.

There has to be a profound insight in the M&C quote, but it escapes me.

“Supergirl was originally created in the 50s as a role model for little girls... “

Something else the left can has messed up. Giving little girls a positive role model is great, I support it. But the white man hating left has pushed it to the point where little girls seem to think they are superior to all, and entitled to anything they desire.

I read the article so you don’t have to…

During a recent interview with Variety, Alcock pushed back against online critics and suggested the hateful comments come from faceless social media users, including conservative men. “It’s from a lot of people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts,” Alcock said. “Or someone’s name and then ‘Dad of four, Christian,’ which is hilarious to me.” The “House of the Dragon” star added, “But I mean, whose opinion do you really care about? If you’re pissing the right kind of people off, you’re doing OK.”

The movie tagline was something like “Truth, Justice, whatever.” That’s DOA for me. Tired of America-hating Hollywood expecting me to buy tickets.

A thought just occurred to me (such an infrequent event that I immediately noticed). Why not create an enormous quantity of tiktok and youtube short videos that are mildly entertaining to today’s quasi-retarded youth, and infuse them with right wing messages?

the M&C quote

Normal movie action and conflict seems boring to young people raised on continuous overblown CGI action. They're used to the ridiculous, and to a scene change every ten seconds.

Is that the question? Or is the question: Why don't actors--the worst most ignorant people-- know to keep their mouths shut like actors in the past?

It seems to me that basically, superheroes are interchangeable, differing only in costume and defining gimmick. How will this movie differ from a Superman movie, other than, it’s a girl this time?

I guess DC didn’t learn the lesson that Disney faced with the backlash it received for Snow White (Snow Brown) with the hate and anti male rhetoric from the Latina Rachel Zegler playing the lead role. Seems like her career didn’t get the jump start she was hoping for lol. Worse yet is DC is doubling down on a similar anti American, anti Christian message even if it’s from the lead actor... Famous quote from Judge Judy, “You can’t fix stupid.”

Yes, but anyone willing to pay $$ to watch a James Gunn film is also probably taking money out of the pocket of a pedophile.

I saw the trailer for it and in the Superman movie where she was introduced, she was actually very pretty. But for some reason for the movie, they turned her into a caveman looking, girlboss dyke. An alcoholic like they did for Aquaman. When I was a kid, Aquaman was a blonde surfer guy that was really straight. And they had to turn them into a half black half Polynesian angry alcoholic

They feel entitled to whatever they desire…without understanding that they might have to exert some effort to get what they desire.

It’s the second part that is infuriating.

It isn't exactly an industry that requires intelligence and /or morality. From the days of Greek tragedy to today, actors are generally poor role models.
