Since #UC dumbed down its admission standards by no longer requiring SAT scores, #STEM professors have started complaining that a huge number of their students don’t understand middle school #math.

ROFLMAO! preferred over the alternative!
OH, paleeez, I go to church with some of the stupidest straight white males ever born!
Now do Indios
Is math really all that important? Asks a career machinist & toolmaker... Lol.
Ah yeah, you couldn’t make a damn thing without math.
But think of the diversity
OK.
Google AI at this point in time seems to have, in general, fair enough knowledge:
“Indios is a Spanish term with multiple distinct meanings depending on the historical and cultural context:
Indigenous Peoples of the Americas: Originating from Christopher Columbus’s mistaken belief that he had reached the East Indies, indios was the blanket term used by Spanish colonizers for the native inhabitants of the Americas. While historically inaccurate, it was codified in law and religion; today, it is often considered pejorative or outdated in many regions, with indigenous peoples or specific tribal names preferred.
Spanish Colonial Caste System: In the Spanish racial hierarchy, particularly in the Philippines and the Americas, indios referred to the native, non-mixed population. They were the lowest-ranked group below peninsulares (Spanish-born), criollos (colonial-born Spanish), mestizos (mixed), and filipinos (in the Philippines). Despite their low status, they were active members of society, serving as farmers, officials, and clergy.
Musical Groups: Indios is also the name of several musical acts, most notably a pop-rock band from Rosario, Argentina, formed in 2009, and Los Indios Tabajaras, a Brazilian instrumental group known for their 1967 performance of Chopin’s Waltz on The Ed Sullivan Show.
In modern usage, the term’s acceptability varies; while some view it as a neutral historical descriptor or a source of pride for reclaiming heritage, others regard it as offensive due to its colonial origins and association with systemic inferiority.

Spanish Hispanics seem to be a bit “racis’”

Dats da point...
The logical next step would be to water down the college classes as well so that everyone gets a diploma.
Sadly that’s a very valid question.
STEM majors are the last refuge of the academically gifted in almost all universities. The Humanities have devolved into politically obedient perches where little true, academic scholarship is found even at “elite” universities. Serious scholars have been driven off accused of being “irrelevant” and under the influence of “dead white Europeans”. Its where these substandard middle schoolers congregate , receive degrees but remain functionally illiterate. With those degrees they are hired by government as bureaucrats or become public school teachers.
i didn’t say all white men were high IQ...
but the IQ bell curve definitely favors far more white men then other groups.
...EXCEPT, being UC, they won’t fail anyone. Might hurt their widdle feelings.
Then, after graduation, they can all move on to Masters and PhD programs with proper remedial reading and remedial math to get them up to 10th grade level.
At least it’s not a lot of money.
It’s what the body needs. It’s got electrolytes.
I had sort of the opposite experience. When I was a freshman they required 3 quarters of English, except the engineering students. They were only required to take 2 quarters. I was majoring in Physics and was taking exactly the same courses as the engineering students but I had to take a third quarter of English, so was stuck with taking poetry on top of my other courses.
“Took the math placement test upon entrance, only to find out they didn’t need to take any further math. Scored just within the highest bracket, higher than the students in the dorm who were majoring in engineering and the sciences. Those guys were pissed off because they had to take an extra quarter of Calculus.”
Uh huh. And how did the other 99.99% of psych majors score on the math placement test in comparison to the STEM majors?
