The New York Knicks are going to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. They swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals with a 130-93 victory in Game 4 on Monday, continuing a remarkable playoff run.
After falling down 2-1 against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, New York has won 11 straight games and done so in dominant fashion: The team's +262 point differential is the largest in NBA history in an 11-game span, regular season or playoffs. The Knicks will face either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals, which will begin on June 3.
New York built a 29-point lead in the first half, was up by 19 at halftime and went on to win by 37. The Knicks are the first team in NBA history to win three closeout games by 20-plus points in the same postseason, having closed out the Hawks with a 51-point rout and finished their second-round sweep with a 30-point win against the Philadelphia 76ers. This is the first time in franchise history that they've swept back-to-back series.
Unlike Game 3, the clincher wasn't a wire-to-wire win for New York -- the Cavaliers took a six-point lead early -- but it was a more dominant one. The Knicks went on a 20-0 run in the first half and led by as many as 45 points in the second. When Cleveland cut it to 16 early in the third quarter, they responded with a 12-0 run. Defensively, the Cavs had a modicum of success in the halfcourt by turning to a zone, but they undercut that by repeatedly allowing the Knicks to find easy baskets in transition.

Is da Mayor digging for a booger to eat?
Dumpster fire game and series, once the Cavaliers blew the 21 point lead in the first game it was all over
celebrity Knicks fans.
It’s easy to find Spike Lee at a Knicks home game.
TV telecast time outs. They repeatedly showed and overweight black man in a well tailored suit sporting an expensive fedora type hat.
Who is that sharp dressed man at the basketball game???
I thought that a foregone conclusion also but after watching some of these games I'm not so sure. New York has been shooting the lights out and creating a lot of turnovers. The competition in the East is not as challenging as in the West but the way this team is playing right now, I think they have a decent chance of beating either OKC or San Antonio.
Could we see the first ever Double in the NBA? In football, a team winning the national challenge cup (i. e. FA Cup, Lamar Hunt Cup, Coupe de France) and the league title (PL, Supporters Shield, Ligue 1). Winning the Emirates Cup and Lawrence J. O’Brien Trophy together would be the first-ever NBA Double in only the second year of this concept. In European basketball, a team wins their league title and the Euroleague (or if they are not part of it, the FIBA Basketball Champions League) title to be a double.
Arsenal could get a Double in winning the Premier League and Champions League (but PSG will destroy them).
Bill Bradley, Dave DeBusschere.
And when I first played basketball as a kid I had Dick Barnett’s book on how to play basketball.
The Thunder Spurs.... Cool band name. Heavy Metal Country...
Nope
Either the Thunder or the Spurs will beat the Knicks in five games. Tonight’s Spurs-Thunder game is going to be great. Thunder just couldn’t make shots on Sunday.
Refs helped OKC tonight
