TRANSCRIPT BEGINS~~~
President Trump: Less than 6 weeks from now, our nation will reach a historic milestone: 250 years of majestic American independence.
But it's only right that first we remember the immense sacrifice that has been brought to us on this momentous anniversary year. That's what it is, it's a momentous year.
Before we hail the founding, we honor the fallen. Before we celebrate the triumph, we the tribute.
Before we crown the victory, we count the cost.
Today we are reminded that there could be no Fourth of July without America's armed forces, and there could be no Independence Day without Memorial Day.
We owe our liberty, our self-government, the glories of our history and our very nation itself to the generations who paid for it with everything they had - the ultimate sacrifice.
The first Americans to give their lives in battle fell on April, 1775 when eight patriots were cut down by Red Coats- those guns.
They were shot on Lexington Green. They had answered the call to muster against a force five times their strength- they said at the time, the greatest in the world - in defense of their cherished rights and their cherished liberty.
As the British approached in Massachusetts, militia men summoned destiny itself saying, 'If they mean to have a war, then let it begin right here.'

First Memorial Day without Jim
Excellent post, Ransom. Thank you.
President Trump honors the serving and the fallen like no president ever has. Military, LEOs, First Responders, and everyday heroes.
I pray that you find kindness and understanding in your decrepit, bitter, dried out old heart before you die.
Meanwhile, thank you for posting about the Best President of our lives!
“We owe our liberty, our self-government, the glories of our history and our very nation itself to the generations who paid for it with everything they had - the ultimate sacrifice.”
No Mr. President. We owe it to God.
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled President Trump: Today we are reminded that there could be no Fourth of July without America's armed forces, and there could be no Independence Day without Memorial Day. [TRANSCRIPT and 2 minute video address], Hardshell wrote: “We owe our liberty, our self-government, the glories of our history and our very nation itself to the generations who paid for it with everything they had - the ultimate sacrifice.”

This is only an excerpt of a longer address; I may have truncated his remarks about God's blessing on us. President Trump has attributed our country and its blessings to God's grace elsewhere. I think in context he was speaking about those Americans who stood between the rest of us and destruction, many dying in the process.
God told his people not to make peace with evil, but to stand against them and fight. He promised He would be with them in battle. Those who would not fight, and those who compromised with evil were given over to slavers and their swords. But those nations who remained faithful and fought evil were blessed. I think Trump is calling attention on Memorial Day to those among us who obeyed God.
Thanks to all who have served, all who are serving and all who will serve in the future.
